3STEP 1 Turning On Equipment
- Keys are required to gain access to equipment.
There are three different keys that may be signed
out from - Audio-Visual Services
- Once the podium is opened, you must manually turn
on each piece of equipment (i.e. projector,
computer, amplifier and VCR). - Please follow the instructions for the equipment
that applies to the room that you are using.
4STEP 2 The Projector
Use the appropriate remote to turn on and operate
the projector. Please note that it takes
approximately 60 seconds for the projector to
warm up.

- Important
- The Epson 7600 remote has all of its input
buttons under the bottom cover, which flips back
for access. - Note both Epson remotes have an ON/OFF switch
located on the side of the remote. Make sure
that the switch is set to ON.
- You must select all of your video inputs by
pressing the source buttons on the projector
remote control.
6STEP 3 The Amplifier
- Turn on the power for the amplifier. Tortech and
Yorkville amplifiers do not require any switching
as both computer and VCR audio can be played back
simultaneously. Use the Master Volume to control
the overall volume level. Individual component
volume knobs are available if they need to be
adjusted.

7STEP 3 The Amplifier (cont.)
VCR Audio
Comp Audio
- The Sony Amplifiers power button is located on
the top left hand side of the component. You
must select either the computer or VCR audio
option by pressing the appropriate input button.
These buttons are located on the right hand side
of the amplifier and are clearly marked. The
large knob is the master volume control.
8STEP 4 Showing a DVD/VHS
- DVD
- Please use the podium computers for showing DVD
movies in electronic classrooms. Some rooms are
equipped with a combo VHS/DVD player. - Depending on the classroom, you may need to
switch the Audio and Video inputs. You can follow
Steps 2 and 3 of the Key Operated Classroom for
Audio and Video settings.
- VHS
- There is a VCR inside of the podium. Depending on
the classroom, you may need to switch the Audio
and Video inputs. You can follow Steps 2 and 3
of the Key Operated Classroom for Audio and
Video settings.
9STEP 5 Using the computer
- Classroom computers support floppy disks, CDs and
DVDs. There are two USB ports located on the
front of the computer for use with USB flash
memory keys. - To turn on the computer, press the On button
located on the front of the computer. Podium
computers are operated in the same way as any
other computer. - To shut down the computer click on Start and
select Shut down.
10STEP 6 Connecting a Laptop
- There is a VGA cable (computer monitor cable)
connected to the podium for you to attach to your
laptop computer. - Please connect this cable to the VGA input on the
back of the laptop. - If you have an automatic switcher the laptop will
be immediately recognized. - If it is a manual switcher (see picture below)
you must turn the knob to the appropriate input.
11STEP 6 Connecting a Laptop (cont.)
- If you do not see a picture you will have to
trigger the laptop. This is done by pressing a
combination of the Fn (Function) button on the
laptop with the appropriate F key.
F keys are marked with a symbol of a monitor or
the words LCD/CRT
- For Laptop audio, unplug the audio cable from the
front of the computer and plug it into the
headphone jack on your laptop computer. - When you are finished, please plug the audio
cable back into the computer.
12STEP 7 Shutting Down the System
- When you are finished using the system, please
shut down the computer by clicking on the Start
button and select Shut Down. - To shut down the projector press the Power
button on the remote control. The first time you
press it, a message will appear on the screen
asking if you are sure you want to shut down.
Press the Power button again and it will turn
off. - Note Sharp projectors label the off button as
Stand by, use this button and follow the
instructions above. - Amplifiers have a Power On/Off switch, please
turn off the amplifier when you are finished as
well.
13Troubleshooting Projector
- If you are having trouble turning on the
Projector. - Please make sure that the On/Off switch on the
remote control is set to On. - There are IR sensors on the front and back of our
projectors, you can stand and point the remote
either in front or behind the projector. - The projector is on but no image appears
- Make sure that you have selected the right source
(if you are trying to show a video the projector
must be in video mode). You can access these
buttons on the remote control. Please see Step
2.
14Troubleshooting (Cont.) Amplifier
- You can see a video but there is no audio
- Make sure that the amplifier is turned on.
- Make sure that the right input is selected on the
amplifier (this only applies to the Sony
equipment) - Check both the individual volume knobs and the
master volume. - It is possible that a cable has been unplugged.
If this is the case please contact Audio-Visual
Services at your campus.
15Troubleshooting (Cont.) Computer Audio
All the equipment is on but there is still no
Audio.
- Make sure that the volume on the computer is
turned up and not muted.
- To do this, double click on the speaker icon
located on the bottom right hand corner of your
screen. A fader bar will appear. Make sure the
Mute option is not marked and turn the level to
the highest point.
16Troubleshooting (Cont.) Computer Audio
All the equipment is on, and the computer volume
is up, yet there is still no audio when I play my
computer movie files.
- Each Media player has its own volume and mute
control. Please make sure that your levels are up
- The Mute button is indicated with a icon of a
speaker - The Volume is indicated by a fader that moves
from left to right.
