The AGSM
The Australian Graduate School of Management is
one of the top business schools in Australia.
AGSM was ranked first in Australia for the MBA
(67th out of 100 worldwide) in 2002, MBA (E)
(13th out of 50 worldwide) in 2001, and Executive
and Corporate Programs (27 May 2002) by the
Financial Times (UK) AGSM was ranked 6th in
Asia and 1st in Australia with the University of
Queensland Business School by Asia Inc (August
2002)

History
  • 1970 Cyert report recommends establishment of a
    national institution of excellence in management
    education.
  • 1975 - Faculty and staff recruitment commences
    _at_ UNSW.
  • 1977 First classes commence, MBA, MPA and
    executive education. First PhD students enrol.
  • 1989 GMQ 1992 GDM.
  • 1993 MBA (Executive).
  • 1999 AGSM became a school of both UNSW and the
    University of Sydney (HKMBA).

Campus
  • 1975 school begins in UNSW campus buildings.
  • 1981 AGSM building opened dedicated post
    graduate campus.
  • 1996 building extension and refurbishment
    completed.
  • 2000 Hong Kong office opened.
  • 2002 Sydney CBD campus opened.

MBA Executive
  • Currently 2518 students who complete in 2 and a
    half to seven years.
  • Various entry points (GCM, GCCM).
  • Can start by doing single courses.
  • Taught face to face simultaneously in 11
    locations in 6 Australian capital cities.
  • 34 female.

HKMBA
  • Very successful program.
  • We have a fully staffed office in HK.
  • Part-time MBA program.
  • Most teaching is done by full time faculty flying
    to HK to teach in intensive mode.
  • About 300 students.
  • We are looking to grow the program and extend it
    beyond HK.

The Library
  • In July 1975, Pamela Taylor was appointed ASGSM
    Librarian.
  • In 1994 the Library was renamed the Frank Lowy
    Library after Frank Lowy, Executive Chairman and
    co-founder of Westfield.
  • In 1995 the Library moved to renovated and
    extended premises.

    databases, plus access to 289 via the UNSW
    Library
  •          196 electronic journals, plus access to
    thousands of additional titles via the UNSW
    Library
  •          Web based catalogue and access to
    digitised resources accessible 24/7 from any
    location
