  • Cost to department 185.00 application fee plus
    500.00 fraud prevention and detection fee.
  • Additional 1,000.00 premium processing fee.
  • Cost to researcher visa application fee
    (varies).

Proposed UCR Policy for H-1B
  • Initial appointment has to be for more than three
    years regardless of current visa status
  • except if researcher is at the end of J-1 status
    from previous employment or if s/he is already in
    H-1B status).
  • Job titles
  • Postdoctoral Scholar (formerly PGR)
  • Staff Research Associate
  • Specialist
  • Project Scientist
  • No H-1B status for non-academic research or
    teaching employment.
  • Any exceptions have to be approved by the Vice
    Provost for Academic Personnel.
