• Software for segmenting, labeling and
  transcribing speech
• Free download http//trans.sourceforge.net
• Open source (GNU GPL)
• Available for Linux, Mac, Windows
• Works with sound files (and video files in latest
  Mac version)
• Writes XML output UNICODE (set UTF-8 encoding
  in general options)

• Subdivision in terms of Sections (topics) and
  Turns (when a certain speaker speaks).
• Allows for overlapping speech for two speakers
• Has instantaneous events (laughter, noises) -gt
  better not use them if you want to import e.g. in
  ELAN.

• Offers quick rough segmentation by pressing enter
  key while playing the sound
• Fine-tune segmentation with control-click

• Simple tool. Cant do very much, but it is very
  easy to learn and to use. Convenient tool for
  first transcription, can be converted to Toolbox
  and ELAN.
