Tense Forms Uses Examples
Simple present I walk He walks -Habitual actions -Facts / truths -Momentary actions -Talking about the future We swim every day. It is cold. John wins the game. The concert starts at 8 oclock.
Simple past I walked He walked -Finished events (usually specific time) -Repeated actions in the past When I was young, I hated school. Every day last week we had a Maths test.
Simple future I will walk He will walk -Making decisions / threats / promises / expressing opinions I think I will go to bed now. I know you will pass.

Present perfect tense I have walked He has walked -Recent past event with indefinite adverbs of time -Past events without a specific time It has just started to rain. I have been to China three times.
Past perfect tense I had walked He had walked for the earlier of two past actions in reported speech When I arrived, the ferry had gone.
Future perfect tense I will have walked He will have walked Actions that we know / think will be completed by a certain time in the future Next year, I will have been in Hong Kong for 10 years. They will have arrived by now.
