  • You will be interviewed once for about 12 minutes
plus 12 minutes feedback sometime during this 5
    week period.
  • The interviewer will have read your application
    documents.
  • You should dress smartly, as if you were going
    for a real interview.
  • Arrive before the interview time.
  • Shake hands with the interviewer when you are
    invited into the room.
  • Prepare well for the interview, behave as if it
    is a real interview.
  • After about 12 minutes the interviewer will
revert back to being a tutor ask you to discuss
your planning and performance and give you some
    feedback.
  • You get marks for how you handle the discussion.

  • At the end you will not be told what mark you
got, because the tutor will need to move on.
  • The marks will be published once all students
    have been interviewed.

7
  • It is very difficult for us to to organise the
    interviews for so many students.
  • You should show you appreciate this and take a
professional attitude to ensure you help the
    event to run smoothly.
  • In the 5 week interview period two interviews
will be held in each seminar time in the room
    already booked for that seminar.
  • Each tutor will nominate additional times when
    they can do interviews.
  • All this information will be drawn up in tables
on large sheets of paper and these will be pinned
up at the front of the lecture room.
  • This information will also be available a few
days before the sign up session.

2
  • Come along to the sign up session with a clear
knowledge of which interview time slots are
    feasible for you.
  • When you come into the room you will be given a
sticky back label with a number on it. The
numbers will be in random order.
  • Print your name and id very clearly on the sticky
    label in black ink.
  • Your turn for sticking your label on the table
(poetry?) will depend on the number on the label.
  • When your turn comes you will have less than
twenty seconds to place your label if you make a
mistake you go to the back of the queue.
  • If you inconvenience other students or any other
member of the University you lose marks in the
    assignment.
  • Make a careful note of the date, time and place
    of your interview.

8
  • No matter when your interview is, the deadline
for handing in your application documents is the
    same Tuesday 24th October 10am.
  • There is a huge amount to information and advice
available about c.v.s, job applications and
interviews. Examples can be found at
    http//computing.unn.ac.uk/staff/cgdm5/ See
also the University web site, the library, and do
    some web searching.

  • Research not only application writing but also
the job type (what do people with this job title
do?and the context (what does this company do,
how big is it, how successful is it ?)
  • Check your writing with a dictionary that also
gives the meanings of words, not a spelling
checker that simply offers you alternative
spellings. Pay attention to details, not just the
    big picture.
