opens the
33rd Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program
SSEAYP is an annual program sponsored by the
Cabinet Office of Japan and participated by
delegations from Japan and the ASEAN member
countries. The purpose of the program is to
promote and strengthen friendship and mutual
understanding among the young people of the
participating ASEAN countries and Japan by
providing them the opportunity to live together
on board the luxury vessel M/S Nippon Maru, visit
the participating countries and engage in various
activities such as institutional visits, goodwill
exchanges with local youth and a homestay with a
host family in Japan and different ASEAN
countries.
MECHANICS OF APPLICATION, SELECTION and
PARTICIPATION
  • Only those application forms with complete
    requirements shall be processed.
  • The SSEAYP Secretariat shall evaluate and verify
    information provided by the applicant.
  • The deadline for submission of complete
    application requirements is April 7, 2006,
    500PM.
  • Those who will qualify shall undergo a panel
    interview on the following schedules

For Philippine Participating Youth (PPY)   a. May
10-12, 2006 (Regions 1,2,3,5,6,7,8,9,10,11, 12,
ARMM, CARAGA and CAR) Venue Civil Service
Commission (CSC) Regional Offices  b. May 23-25,
2006 (NCR and Region 4) Venue National Youth
Commission (NYC) Head Office,Quezon City
For National Leader (NL)   May 30-31, 2006 (Panel
Interview) June 1, 2006 (Commissions interview
for top 4 NL applicants only) Venue National
Youth Commission (NYC) Head Office, Quezon City
  • Application forms of short-listed applicants from
    the interview shall be forwarded to the
    Commission for deliberation and approval of the
    twenty-eight (28) PPY and one (1) NL finalists.
    Finalists are still subject to the confirmation
    of the Commission after the Pre-Departure
    Training (PDT).
  • All finalists shall be notified to attend the
    Orientation at the NYC Office, Quezon City on
    July 19, 2006, 900AM. Notified finalists shall
    make a confirmation to the SSEAYP Secretariat
    immediately upon receipt of notice at least one
    (1) week before the orientation.
  • The transportation expenses from the point of
    origin to NYC Office in Quezon City and vice
    versa shall be shouldered by the finalists.
  • After the orientation, all finalists will undergo
    a twelve-day live-in PDT from July 19-30, 2006.
    The NYC will provide the food and accommodation
    during the PDT period only including
    transportation expenses from NYC, Quezon City to
    the PDT venue (within Metro Manila or nearby
    province).
  • All finalists must bring during the PDT a
    passport valid until June 2007.

  • Finalist/s who fail to confirm to attend the
    orientation and PDT shall be disqualified.
  • Only those who have successfully completed the
    PDT shall be confirmed SSEAYP 2006 Participating
    Youth (PPY) by the Commission upon recommendation
    by the PDT Team.
  • All PPYs shall arrange among themselves the
    schedule of their Pre-Departure Activities (PDA)
    and venue prior to their departure. PPY shall
    provide their own transportation, food and
    accommodation and other incidental expenses
    during the PDA.
  • The Commission or the Japanese government
    officials in-charge of SSEAYP may disqualify any
    PPY who may be found guilty of violating rules
    and regulations prior to their departure or
    during the program.
  • The departure for Singapore (assembly) is on
    October 30, 2006.
  • The following are the countries to be visited
    (tentative)
  • The Philippine delegates are required to attend
    the Post Program Evaluation on December 12-14,
    2006 upon their arrival in Manila. The NYC shall
    provide the food and accommodation during the
    Evaluation period only.
  • Each delegate will shoulder their transportation
    expenses from Manila to their respective regions
    after the Evaluation period.
