Title: How to Know Jesus.
1How to Know Jesus.
- What Scripture say about becoming a Christian.
2The journey to Knowing Jesus begins with a simple
but important question.
Have you come to the place where you are certain
you will spend eternity in heaven?
There is another question that opens the door as
we continue along the journey.
3If you were standing before God and He were to
ask you, Why should I allow you into my
heaven? what would you say?
It is important to understand what God says about
why He would allow anyone into His heaven.
Let His Scripture speak to His provision.
4For all have sinned and fall short of the glory
of God Romans 323
- The word sin in the
- New Testament is derived from three Greek words,
but in Romans 323 it has a special meaning. - The three terms translated into English mean the
following.
- SIN
- Inclination away from
- Breach of a law
- Missing the mark
- The last meaning is the one used in Romans.
5In the old days the observer of archery contest
would shout certain things concerning the flight
of the arrow. When the arrow passed over the
target they would say, High. When the arrow hit
the middle of the target they would shout,
Center or Bulls eye. When the arrow fell short
of the target the observer would shout,
SIN. Romans 323 simply states that everyone
has fallen short of the target or goal that God
has for them.
6For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of
God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our
Lord.Romans 623
- This verse contains two sets of contrasting
words. - DEATH ETERNAL LIFE
- WAGES GIFT
- It speaks of what one earns because of sin
(missing the mark) and a gift.
7Just as you might be able to recognize a crayon,
by looking at it or having knowledge that it
exists, does not mean you possess a crayon. It
may be extended to you but you must receive it. A
gift must be received before it can be used!
8Jesus takes the initiative to make Himself
available.
- Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If
anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will
come in and eat with him and he with me. - Revelations 320
9What is missing in this picture?
If there is no door knob, how do you open the
door?
If you open the door to your life, the promise is
that Jesus will come in.
Wouldnt it be wonderful if God told us how we
can invite Jesus in?
HE DOES!
10That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is
Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised
Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is
with your heart that you believe and are
justified, and it is with your mouth that you
confess and are saved. Romans 109-10
If you verbalize or ask Jesus to become the Lord
of your life, His promise is that you will be
saved. The process is a prayer to Him asking for
that gift.
