How I became a U.S. Fulbright Scholar
  • I applied to the Fulbright Program in the summer
of 2005 (see announcement on the next slide)
  • I applied for an academic leave (at reduced
salary) from my university contingent on
    receiving the award.
  • I was notified of the award by the Council for
International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) in
    April 2006.
  • I attended a 2-day orientation session in
    Washington D. C. in July 2006

    t/orientation/eur/)
  • I contacted SEEU about my plans soon thereafter.
  • My academic leave started in Jan. 2007 I arrived
    in Skopje on Jan. 29.

18
My Fulbright Objectives
  • It is my belief that global collaboration is a
requisite for Computer Scientists, and especially
for Computer Science students when they enter
    into the workforce.
  • It is my hope to contribute to the building of a
relationship with the community in (the Republic
of Macedonia) to pave the way to future academic,
    research, or professional collaboration.
  • I also expect to gain a different perspective for
the teaching of Computer Science and the
development of a curriculum in Computer Science.
It will be of interest to observe the culture at
the prospective host institution and compare the
quality of teaching, students, and laboratory
facilities between the two universities (SEEU and
Cal Poly) and the two countries.
