KS2 Aims Expectations
  • after 4 years of language learning, most Year 6
    children will be able to understand simple spoken
    and written language, to speak aloud and take
    part in short conversations and to write simple
    sentences. They will also understand about
    different cultures and have an idea about how
    languages work and how to learn them. In short,
    they will be becoming confident users and
    learners of a new language.

KS3 Aims Expectations
  • The overarching aims of the KS3 curriculum are to
    engender successful learners, confident
    individuals and responsible citizens. The
    skills-based approach to the KS2 Scheme of Work
    seeks to lay the foundations for this learning in
    modern languages.

KS1 Aims Expectations
  • There is no KS1 Framework Scheme of Work for KS1
    or Nursery age children

  • KS1 French
  • Y3-Y5 French
  • Y6 Spanish
  • German to be introduced to the KS2 curriculum
    from September 2008
  • Non-European language in future plans

  • Junior Language Challenge Dutch
  • Language Club Spring Term 2
  • CVC students will return this Summer Term to
    teach German to Y4
