Key factors for success with GCSEs
  • Attendance - Research shows a clear link
    between attendance success at school
  • Organisation - The correct books resources
    for each day, organised at home dictionary,
    calculator etc
  • Your involvement - Attend school events that
    support your young persons learning - this
    evening, subject consultation evening,
    mentoring day
  • Work with the school Do not challenge us,
    support us. Together we will develop a clearer
    view of your young person
  • Wider reading Any reading will benefit pupils,
    broadening the range of reading material will
    be a further improvement

Supporting your child
  • Show an interest in their work
  • Establish a routine
  • Provide a work space at home
  • Have basic tools and equipment available
  • Dont do it for them but help with homework
  • Keep in touch with the school
  • Use the TV to support learning
  • Take days out that will help
  • Congratulate them when ever possible

  • Provide information on student performance to
    inform decisions on whether students are ready to
    be entered for an external exam, and (where
    relevant) for which tier or level.
  • Give staff and students information about areas
    of strength and weakness
  • Provide practice under full exam conditions and
    answering the type of question set

    efforts
