There are 92 Fume Hoods and 132 Bio-Safety
Cabinets located in the Hospital Buildings all
documented by the program.

Procedures
  • Develop background plans for floors roofs.
  • Obtain O.S.E.H. fume hood test and certification
    list.
  • Review existing facility drawings.

Procedures
  • Field verify all fume hood and exhaust sources,
    including smoke test if required, document
    changes and additions, duct routing, starter
    locations, and questionable arrangements.
  • Document all mechanical equipment on roof. (i.e.
    exhaust fans, rooftop units, condensing units,
    outdoor air intakes)
  • Measure stack diameters and heights.

  • Transfer all field-gathered data to drawings.
  • Engineering assessment of systems.
  • Perform final review and check to verify accuracy.

  • Install signs, tags and tapes.
  • Use UV resistant permanent marker on all tags and
    UV tape.

  • Not all fans get tagged.
  • Not all buildings get tagged.
  • Place completed drawings in the master Roof
    Safety Plan book located in the Plant Engineering
    department office.
  • On completion, distribute plans to appropriate
    departments.

Compliance
  • Maintenance of program

All users will be expected to help maintain the
accuracy of the Roof Safety Plans.
