Title: Amursk Orphange
1Amursk Orphange 1
There are 22 orphan children from the ages of
6-16 years of age that call this facility home.
Lifeline of Hope has been caring for this
facility for almost 3 years and it is has made
great changes in the childrens lives.
2AmurskFar East, Russia
Amursk is a city of over 47,000 people in the Far
East of Russia located on the Amur River North
East of China. The area is mostly agricultural
but does have an ammunition plant that is barely
running and a large paper mill that use to be the
principle economy but has long but shut down.
3Because of Lifeline of Hope and the Christs
Mission Church, these children receive at least 2
balance meals a day with food that has been
purchased for them or produce (such as these
potatoes) they have grown themselves from seeds
that have been provide for them.
4As needed the children receive clothing,
material, knitting needles, needles, thread and
patterns.
5With the material the children use the sewing
machines that we have provided to make their
clothes and slippers that they wear indoors. They
also use scrap material to make their own stuffed
animals.
6At one time medicine and personal hygiene
products were hard to come by and most of the
time the children went sick with out even as much
as an aspirin to help them. However, now the
children receive basic first aid, medical care,
dental work and inoculations from the facilities
own first aid clinic as needed.
7Of course with this many children there is always
work to be done and most of the work is done by
the children. Here the girls are using mops and a
dust pan to clean their dormitory and (left) they
are washing dishes from a meal. All Items that
have been supplied by Lifeline of Hope and
Christs Mission Church.
8A work shop of wood working tools has been
purchased for this facility. The boys and girls
make decorative items for the orphanage and to
sell. They also repair and make wooden furniture
for their own use and to sell as well. These type
of skills are fun but will also give these
children job skills that they can use when they
are old enough to leave the orphanage.
9Below is a translated comment from one of the
boys in the Amursk 1 Orphanage and his reaction
to the wood tools that they received.
- I remember the time when the only tools in
our carpenters shop were knives. Now we have all
necessary tools and instruments for making
complex things from wood. I am excited to learn
how to do cutting, working with bars, and making
fine things. Hurray! Thank you for the help! It
is going to be very helpful to me as a future
man! Thank you for working in our life and making
it better. - M.Lazarev
10Education for these children are an important
part of Lifeline of Hopes program. Here one of
the boys receives an award for his high scores in
school. He is a great example of what can happen
when a child is healthy, well fed and loved even
if it comes from half way around the world.
11Thank You!
