KEYS TO SUCCESS EN LA CLASE DE ESPAÑOL

• Be on time
• Come prepared
• Show respect
• No food, drink, gum
• Be organized
• Cover care for your text
• Remain seated
• Participate!
• Gum in your mouth results in gum removal duty
  after school.

Supplies

• A notebook with ample paper
• Pens of BLUE or BLACK ink
• A folder for organizing handouts
• Your textbook
• Your workbook
• Spanish-English dictionaries are helpful but not
  required
• NO Electronic Translators!

Hall passes

• You MUST have an agenda book. No paper passes.
• No passes in the first ten minutes or last ten
  minutes of class.
• One person out of the room at a time.
• Locker passes are NEVER issued. Plan ahead and
  be organized.

What do you mean Im tardy?!

• Three seconds late is still LATE!
• If you are not physically in my room when the
  tardy bell rings, you will be marked TARDY!
• A referral will be written upon your 3rd tardy.
• Do not blame your last teacher- ASK HIM/HER FOR A
  PASS!

Electronics

• NOT ALLOWED DURING SCHOOL HOURS. They must be
  OUT OF SIGHT.
• If I see it, I WILL TAKE IT.
• Think your phone is on? Come up and see me. If
  you take it out without permission, I WILL TAKE
  IT.
• If it rings/vibrates, I WILL TAKE IT.

Grading procedures

• 20 Class work and homework
• 40 Quizzes (1-2 per week)
• 40 Chapter tests (1-2 per quarter)

QUIZZES AND TESTS MUST BE TAKEN IN BLUE OR BLACK
INK.

• Spelling and accents are VERY IMPORTANT. Pencil
  is not precise enough.
• I dont loan pens- COME PREPARED!
• The penalty for taking a quiz or test in pencil
  is that you must copy the entire thing in pen to
  find out what the grade is! This must be done
  before or after school.

Make-ups If you are absent on the day of a quiz
or a test, the assessment will be graded as a 0
(zero) until you make it up.

• Before or after school ONLY- never during school
  hours
• 640 or 205
• Make an appointment

Homework

• Always due on the next day of class
• Never accepted late
• Unless you were absent when it was assigned or
  absent when it was due
• No, you may not go to your locker, car, friends
  class, etc. to get it
• No, there is no partial credit for late work.
  Show your Pirate PRIDE and be PREPARED with your
  work when it is due, as we always review the
  answers in class that day

Absence

• Turn in any work assigned before your absence
  immediately
• You are responsible for what you missed.
• Homework
• Class work
• Tests/quizzes
• Announcement of tests/quizzes
• Copy down the assignments from the What did I
  miss when I was absent wall, ask for handouts,
  get notes from a classmate, arrange for make-ups
• You have 2 days to turn in assignments, and 10
  days to make up missed quizzes/tests.
