Title: frog
1Arent we all
like this frog?
2If you put a frog into a very hot, near boiling
water, it will jump out immediately. It may get
some scald injuries, but it will still survive
and live on.
However, if you put a frog into a pot of cold
water, and very very slowly heat up the pot, the
frog will not jump up. It will instead swim
comfortably in the water, enjoying the increasing
warm water, not realising that the end is near
I want to relate this thought here
3When it realises that the water is getting too
hot, it cannot jump out anymore because half of
it was already cooked.
Ultimately, of course, the frog dies, not knowing
why it has to be so in an environment which was
so comfortable initially.
4In many instances, we humans are like the frog in
the pot. In global warmings, we do not care until
the pot (in this case, the globe) we live in gets
too hot. We will realise the danger, but by then,
it will be too late.
5In our world, our economy is like the frog in the
pot. We do not want to adopt competitive
policies, because all of us are living in a very
comfortable environment. When the economy really
gets marginalised and we are left at the bottom
of the ladder while others are all climbing up
fast and past us. It is again a case of realising
too late.
6Many of our political leaders are also like the
frog in the pot. They do not object to misdeeds,
abuses and corruptions and when the country finds
itself enveloped in a corrupt culture, it is
again a case of being too late. It will take many
generations to correct what could have been
corrected fairly easily at the very beginning.
7Many of us are also like the frog. We are
apathetic to the changes around us. We carry on
our life as if nothing will change it. We are not
bothered by bad politics, we are not bothered by
corruption, we are not bothered about threats of
globalisation.
8We do not bother to register to vote, we do not
bother to speak out, we do not bother to learn
new things. Until one day, we will find that we
are so far behind others, and that it is often
too late.
Hopefully, this anecdote of the frog can help
some of us see the light and we must act before
the pot gets too hot for comfort.
9 Life could pass me right by, I'd never care
I won't worry
about what isn't there
You might wonder, but you can't ask me why
I can't hear you, I'm watching
life go by I'd look around, without a worry
Not caring who's in a
hurry Don't
join in, it's really not bad
If you just watch
you can't be sad
When I get tired, lonely or afraid I just sit
back, think of the games I've played I'll watch
the trees and the birds in the sky Or I'll just
sit here watching life go by
Life could pass me right by, I'd never care I
won't worry about what isn't there You might
wonder, but you can't ask me why I can't hear
you, I'm watching life go by
I'd look around, without a worry Not caring who's
in a hurry Don't join in, it's really not bad If
you just watch you can't be sad
10 Life could pass me right by, I'd never care
I won't worry
about what isn't there
You might wonder, but you can't ask me why
I can't hear you, I'm watching
life go by I'd look around, without a worry
Not caring who's in a
hurry Don't
join in, it's really not bad
If you just watch
you can't be sad
I really don't care what anyone thinks I won't
believe that your life is a jinx I could just sit
here till the day I die And do nothing but watch
life go by
I'm watching life go by, just ignore me Don't
tell me stories, they'd only bore me I'm happier
when I'm just all alone If I sit long enough,
I'll turn to stone
I'll turn to a stone, for all to see And nothing
in the whole world would free me Turning into
stone, that's how I will die I'll be a statue
watching life go by
11It's east of nowhere and west of here It may be
far away It may be near Paradise is where you
want it Wherever that may be The world is
beautiful Everything can be free.
