2What is a conclave speech?
- Conclave speeches is somewhat like a persuasive
essay, it is to persuade the audience why they
should vote you as the next Lieutenant Governor. - Speech cannot exceed more than 3 minutes
- Memorization is also good as well, but dont
remember your speech word by word.

- introduce yourself, hook
- Thesis
- your main point
- why you are running!
- Support/Body 1
- past experience
- Support/Body 2
- goals and ideas for the future
- Conclusion
- give a lasting impression
4The introduction thesis
- Grab peoples attention! Use your personality!
- Introduce yourself to the audience like your
name, what school you are from, etc. - Tell the audience why you are running for LTG
- Why are you the best candidate?

- Past experiences
- Dont recite your resume!
- Choose a worthy experience and evaluate.

- Goals and Ideas
- Stick to realistic goals and ideas
- Say some areas of improvements for the next year
if you are selected.

- LAST IMPRESSIONS!
- Make sure the members remember who you are
- Reiterate why you are the best candidate for this
job
8Tips for Conclave Speeches
- Dont repeat what is already said on your
literature. - Avoid gloating when talking about your speech.
- Unnecessary information
- Procrastination is BAD!
- When saying your speech, speak clearly and loudly
so everyone can hear you. Take your time! - Practice, Practice, Practice!
9What is Caucusing?
- Besides your speech, caucusing is a chance for
the audience to know more about you (the
candidate) by asking certain types of questions. - This is provided for you to let the audience
understand more about you and what you will offer
as a candidate. Share your Key Club knowledge
with the audience at the same time! - Each candidate get approx 4 or 5 minutes for
caucusing
10How to answer the questions
- Think before speaking
- Stay away from common answers. Be creative yet
informative! - Types of responses to questions
- Dont be discouraged if the audience reacts
poorly, there will be a lot of chances for you to
answer questions - Moderation will occur during the caucus process
so no inappropriate questions will be asked
11What type of questions will be asked?
- Key Club Knowledge Questions
- ex. What do the letters K-E-Y stand for?
- Fun Spirit Questions
- ex. How do you feel?!
- ex. Compare Key Club to (any random object)
- Possible Serious Questions
- ex. Why do you want to be Lieutenant Governor?
- ex. What are your plans for our division in the
next year? - and much more!
12Tips for Caucusing!
- Think on your feet!
- Before your conclave, identify tricky questions
and find ways to answer them. - Be enthusiastic and animated with your responses.
Smiling goes a long way in appeal. - Never put down the other candidates.
- Think positive and the future for the division.
- Stay relaxed and enjoy this experience!
