3Some Facts and Figures
- With over 156 million people, Pakistan is one of
the most populous countries in the world. - In Pakistan, youth population is about 25 million
in ages 15-24 and about 34 million between ages
10-24 years -
- Pakistan is one of the poorest, with 66 of the
total population living on less than US2 a day.
It ranks 135 in the Human Development Index
Ranking. -
- The low levels of knowledge about SRH and of
access to services are illustrated in the high
maternal mortality ratio of 500 deaths per
100,000 live births.

- The estimated abortion rate is 29 per 1,000 women
(aged 15 to 49), meaning that if the rate
persists, every Pakistani woman will have
experienced an abortion in her lifetime. -
- About 197,000 women are treated every year for
complications resulting from unsafe abortions in
public and private health facilities. - Estimated Number of HIV cases (Adults and
children) 85,000 -
- About 6.463 million children do not go to school.
