1Section 30 Proposed Design Overview
2Session Overview
- Project Background
- Key Changes
- Design Overview
- Activities and Timeline
3Project Background
- Key Objective
- Currently Section 30 Staff must use 3 systems to
accomplish their work, including - MOSES for Program (Course) and School (Provider)
approvals - UI System for UI related research and
approvals/denials - Section 30 System for applicant tracking and
reporting - The goal of this project is to reduce the number
of systems used to two, by creating in MOSES the
functionality currently contained in the Section
30 system - In addition, the project will leave open the
potential for UI interface, although that work is
not in the scope of this project.
4Key Changes
- The key change for Section 30, as a result of
MOSES integration, will be the tight integration
between the Section 30 applicant and the
course(s) that are associated with a given
application - The application itself will become a MOSES record
- The Section 30 application can be linked with a
course through the Training Enrollment function
currently in MOSES - The MOSES Section 30 Program can be linked to
the existence of an actual application record in
MOSES, as well as an approved Section 30 course - An application record will be created either by
Section 30 staff or by a referral from Career
Center staff
5Affected Stakeholders
- Through MOSES enhancement, several stakeholders
work will be affected - Section 30 Staff
- The Section 30 staff will be using MOSES for
applicant tracking and reporting - Most users will need MOSES training
- Career Center Staff
- Career Center staff will still use Eligibility
Criteria to check eligibility for a Section 30
referral - Career Center Staff may refer an eligible
applicant in a Section 30 approved course, which
will automatically create a Section 30
application record - A signed application will still need to be
sent/faxed to the Section 30 staff before the
application is acted upon.
6Design Overview
- The design is categorized into 5 parts
- Career Center Section 30 Interaction
- Working with the Initial Section 30 Application
- Working with a Completed Section 30 Application
- Course Approvals and Provider Approvals
- Reporting
7Career Center Interaction
8Section 30 Eligibility
This does not change. The process will remain
the same. A person is eligible for Section 30 if
they are a UI Claimant
9Section 30 Courses

change. The search will be aided by new icons,
green for approved courses, and yellow for

may be eligible for approval.
10Enrollment in Section 30 Program
Career Center staff are not required to create a
Section 30 application in MOSES. However,
pre-filled application forms are one benefit.
This will only work with approved or pending
Section 30 Courses. A new funding type (no )
will allow an application regardless of funding.
11Section 30 Application Details

applications will be available under Special
Programs Tab.
12Working With Initial Application
13Working with an Initial Application
For Section 30 Applicants who are not MOSES
job-seekers, Section 30 staff will add them to
MOSES. If an applicant is a UI claimant, most
information will be pre-filled into the basic
record.
14Working with an Initial Application
Section 30 staff may need to add certain fields,
such as email address, to the Basic Record.
15Section 30 Tab
If an application wasnt auto-created via the
Training Enrollment Details screen at the Career
Center, it may be added on the Section 30 tab by
Section 30 staff. If the applicant is new to
MOSES, the addition of an approved record will
automatically enroll the applicant in the Section
30 Program in MOSES.
