Project Description

• No Changes
• An Engine Control Unit
• Reads several input sensors from the engine
• Generates outputs for Injectors and Coils
• Our Project entails
• Selecting appropriate electronic devices
• Designing and assembling a custom PCB
• Writing assembly routines to handle all engine
  states
• Placing the electronics in a heat resistant box
• Mounting the box on the Duke Motorsports Car
• Going Fast!

Accomplishments

• Hardware We have a working board
• Board received on Friday, November 23
• All components soldered to board
• Assembled Connector (what a pain!!)
• Tested all input circuits to verify functionality
• Connected to ICE and passed self test
• RS232 communication functionality verified

• Serial Communication tested (with HyperTerminal)
• ADC and timer initialization (incomplete)
• Interrupt handler routines
• Linear Interpolation routines (incomplete)
• Research on setting outputs to Open Collector

Fixed Problems

• 1st time Surface Mount Soldering
• Ripped off some pads
• Had to try 3 times
• Connectors didnt fit on board
• Dremel and Sander were very useful
• We purchased OPA337 instead of OPA2337
• Switching from internal to external oscillator
• RS232 didnt work and then it started to

• Large voltage drop in 3 input sensor circuits
