TRI Data Flow Implementation

• Use JAXB technology to generate the source files
  used to parse the TRI XML schemas
• Customize the code based on the TRI need
• Design and develop the parsers for the TRI XML
  files

• Insert the data extracted from XML file thru
  parser in TRI DB
• Integrate the parser code with Node to
  successfully receive and process XML files

• Debugging code uncovered errors
• Timing issues with facility testing

• Promotion of report submittals via CDX thru
• Quarterly TRI Newsletter
• Notified interested parties through annual TRI
  workshop and various presentations
• Approximately 25 of this years
• submittals were performed via CDX

Lessons Learned from the Pilot

• Need clear perspective about being a pilot state
  what is needed to begin?
• Sole source if you can
• Avoid cart before the horse
• Make your documentation available to other states
• Did not have time to perfect flow

What Lies Ahead

• Develop front-end for new TRI DB
• Incorporate IDEM TRI business rules into DB
• Automate the TRI data flow
• Vigorous promotion of CDX submittals to
  facilities
