Virginias Highway Safety Challenge
  • In October 2007, the Virginia Department of
Transportation (VDOT) partnered with the Virginia
State Police (VSP) and the Virginia Department of
Motor Vehicles (DMV) to develop Virginias
    Highway Safety Challenge, a statewide
communications campaign designed to raise public
awareness of the alarming number of deaths on
Virginias highways and improve driving behavior.
  • The campaign asks the question
  • Are you Virginias next traffic fatality?

Research

highways each year. In 2007, more than 1,000

  • Highway crashes are the leading cause of death
for Virginians under the age of 30.
