FPD DATA QUALITY CHECKING

• Forward Proton Detector (FPD)

- a series of momentum spectrometers that make
use of accelerator magnets in conjunction with
position detectors along the beam line

• Quadrupole Spectrometers
• surround the beam up, down, in, out
• use quadrupole magnets (focus beam)

• Dipole Spectrometer
• inside the beam ring in the horizontal plane
• use dipole magnet (bends beam)

• also shown here separators (bring beams
  together for collisions)

A total of 9 spectrometers composed of 18 Roman
Pots

DØ Diffraction

• Seven Ph.D. students in diffractive group based
  at Fermilab plus two at remote institutions. New
  UTA post-doc Duncan Brown
• will help coordinate work
• Analyses in progress on
• Large samples of SD and DPE jet events with gaps,
  some of which have FPD tracks
• W/Z gap and/or track (electron and muon
  channels)
• J/? gap data
• Elasstic scattering
• Analyses measure diffractive structure as f(?,t)
  in many channels
• Search for exclusive production in double pomeron
  exchange
• Improving trigger capabilites to allow selection
  of double track events in global trigger list
• Working on halo background reduction
• Quadrupole detector commissioning

Exclusive Dijets in Double Pomeron Exchange

• Search for events with tagged proton,
  anti-proton, 2 jets, and nothing else
• REQUIREMENTS
• Exclusive Monte Carlo (ready)
• 18 FPD detectors, which are integrated in DØ
  readout,
• but still in final commissioning stages
  (calibration, alignment, etc.)
• Dedicated FPD trigger will improve sample
  (currently trigger using
• gaps) DFE/TM commissioning in progress, need
  trigger database work
• to overcome exposure group issues
