- EUROPARC is the umbrella organisation of Europe's
protected areas. It unites over 400 members in 40
countries, who have the common aim of protecting
Europe's unique variety of wildlife, habitats and
landscapes.

- The EUROPARC Strategy
- In 2007 a new EUROPARC Strategy was produced.
- It is EUROPARCs framework from 2008 to 2012.
- It describes EUROPARCs vision, mission and the
direction which the Federation will take over the
next 4 years. - It is based on a pillar system the main ones are
Support for Protected Areas and Organisational
development - There is a work programme which deals with the
implementation of the strategy

- What is the European Charter?
- The Charter is a framework / management tool for
developing tourism in protected areas in a
sustainable way and in partnership with all the
key actors. - The European Charter is a partnership between a
protected area and its tourism stakeholders. - It contains elements of a quality label but more
important is the Charters process for developing
quality in sustainable tourism.

Europes protected areas as a fundamental part of
our heritage - To improve the sustainable development and

- What is the Junior Ranger project?
- A model concept promoting programmes of ranger
activities for youngsters living in or close to
protected areas throughout Europe. - Designed by EUROPARC and the International Ranger
Federation - It can be adopted by every PA
- Activities based around the work of PA rangers
- What is its aim?
- to develop and implement practical programmes and
activities based on the work of park rangers for
interested youngsters, who live in or near a
protected area. - to promote pan-European co-operation between
participating protected areas.
