Curriculum Meeting

Prayer
  • A holy man was having a conversation with the
Lord one day and said, Lord, I would like to
know what heaven and Hell are like...
  • From e-mail received October 14, 2006

Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller
  • Some people in Iraq are killing other
peoplewould you kill other people if you were in
    Iraq
  • If you say no, then are you assuming you are
better than the people in Iraq..
  • If you say yes, then is killing right

Gauss Theory
  • http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Friedrich_Gauss
  • Gauss was a child prodigy, of whom there are many
anecdotes pertaining to his astounding precocity
while a mere toddler, and made his first
    ground-breaking mathematical discoveries while
    still a teenager

http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Friedrich_Gauss
  • Another famous story, and one that has evolved in
the telling, has it that in elementary school his
teacher, J.G. Büttner tried to occupy pupils by
making them add up the integers from 1 to 100 (or
    1 to 1000 or 3 7 11 15 19 23 27 ...
    or 81297 81495 81693 ... 100899 etc.).
The young Gauss produced the correct answer
within seconds by a flash of mathematical
insight, to the astonishment of all. Gauss had
realized that pairwise addition of terms from
opposite ends of the list yielded identical
    intermediate sums 1 100 101, 2 99 101, 3
98 101, and so on, for a total sum of 50
    101 5050

  • 2. __small____hot____ RF _____________
  • big
  • 3. I ride on your shoulders, and I start with B.
  • I carry your homework your books ride in me.

  • RF stands for Relating Factor. For example
Small is the opposite of big as hot is the
opposite of cold. The relating factor has to fit
in the middle of the 2 words being compared, and
it should make a complete sentence. Most of the
time, the analogy only allows for one correct
answer. However, when there are different
options, I do allow for multiple responses (as
long as they fit with the Relating Factor).
