- Advance personalized learning
6 Monash Bachelor of Engineering 4 years
- Common first year establishes a foundation and
allows an informed choice - Second year builds basic theory and design skills
- Third year extends theory and design into more
complex, professional scenarios - Fourth year provides specialised electives and an
individual project
7Specialist degrees
8Double Degree Combinations
Orange shaded cells indicate programs available
with common first year
9Double Degrees - Twice the flexibility Double
degrees are 5 - 6 years in duration
10Flexible Entry Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering
- Units 3 and 4 English, Maths Methods and Physics
or Chemistry - Study score requirements vary depending on the
program chosen - The admissions table in undergraduate course
guide lists all pre-requisites, study score
requirements and a contact email and phone number
if you have further questions - Note some specialist programs have different
entry requirements, check the Course Guide for

2007 Eng Excellence Award Scholarship holders at
induction workshop
15Leadership in Technology Program
- Topics covered
- Defining leadership
- Critical thinking and problem-solving
- Communication and people skills
- Sustainability
- Ethics
- Globalisation
- Change management
- Innovation
- Entrepreneurship
16Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program
(UROP)
Provides undergraduate students an early
opportunity to experience real life in an
engineering research environment, working either
with a research staff member or within a research
group.
Biomedical Engineering researchers have
discovered a way of predicting susceptibility to
hamstring injuries and are developing strategies
for reducing the chances of subsequent hamstring
failures in elite athletes such as footballers
and cricketers.
17Summer Research Program
Later year students can undertake research
projects over a 13 week period during the summer
break
- Benefits
- Receive a 400 per week allowance (tax exempt)
- Explore a topical problem in much greater depth
than is possible within their undergraduate
program - Gain research experience which will stand them in
good stead when applying for engineering research
degrees at Monash University - Can count towards work experience requirement for
graduation
18Practical Industry Placement
Engineering students at Monash are required to
undertake 12 weeks of practical experience in
approved engineering work during one or more of
the long vacations. This experience frequently
leads to graduate employment opportunities.
19Industry Based Learning (IBL)
Began in 2007 This new program assists students
in finding full-time work in industry for a
period of one or two semesters while they take a
break from their studies. Available to local
students in 2007, with a view to extending it to
international students in 2008.
20 Excellent graduate opportunities
Australias peak engineering body has warned
that the countrys skills shortage is set to
worsen, with up to 30,000 engineers due to retire
over the next decade The Federal Govt has
allocated 500 additional University places for
engineering courses in 2008 to address the
national shortage.
21Why Monash Engineering?
