Starting PowerPoint
  • Open PowerPoint
  • Choose Design Template or Blank Presentation
  • Choose Slide Layout

Adding Information
  • Click in Placeholders to add Titles, Sub-Titles,
    and Text
  • Font sizes should be 18 or larger
  • Try to stay under 12 lines and/or 7 bullets per
    slide
  • To add Clip Art
  • Double-click in a Clip Art Placeholder, or
  • Insert-Picture-Clip Art

Getting Clip Art from the Web
  • In the Clip Art dialog box, click on the globe
    takes you to Microsofts online clip gallery
  • Complete these sections
  • Search for type in search terms
  • Search In everywhere
  • Results Should Be Clip Art
  • Order By
  • Click Go
  • Choose clips by clicking in the box
  • Click on Download Clips
  • Click on Download Now
  • Save on the desktop name the clips
  • Find the desktop and double-click the document
  • PowerPoint will automatically add the clips to
    the computers clip gallery

Scanning and Inserting Pictures
  • Scanner is on computer 15
  • Place picture face down on top right corner of
    glass
  • Go to Start-Programs-HP Precision Scan-HP
    Precision Scan
  • Check that Scan To says Image File click on
    Scan (make sure the picture is flat)
  • Select the area you want and click on Accept
  • Choose where to save it, what to name it, and
    Save As Type should be JPEG
  • Image Quality should be High click on OK
  • Click on Cancel and close the program

  • To insert a scanned picture
  • Insert-Picture-From File
  • Navigate to where the picture is
  • Click on Insert

Inserting Pictures from a Digital Camera
  • Use PhotoStudio to open the picture on the floppy
    disk
  • Choose where to save the picture, what to name
    it, JPEG for file type
  • Insert-Picture-From File, find the picture, click
    on Insert

  • Right-click on the picture, choose Save Picture
    As
  • Choose where to save it and what to name it
  • In PowerPoint
  • Insert-Picture-From File
  • Navigate to picture and click on Insert

Inserting Graphics from Kid Pix
  • After painting the Kid Pix picture
  • File-Export
  • Decide where ti save the picture and what to name
    it
  • In PowerPoint, choose Insert-Picture-From File
  • Click on Insert

Adding Sound
  • Attach a microphone to computer
  • Insert - Movies and Sound - Record Sound
  • Name the sound, click on red dot, and speak into
    the microphone hold the microphone close to
    your mouth
  • Click on the blue square when finished and click
    OK
  • A speaker will appear on the slide
  • When the presentation is running, clicking on the
    speaker will play the sound

Adding Animation
  • Click on the yellow star in the Formatting
    Toolbar
  • Click on Custom Animation (button with blue
    arrow)
  • Choose the object to animate
  • Choose the animation for that object
  • Click on Preview

Adding Transitions
  • Slide Show Slide Transition
  • Choose the type of transition
  • Choose the speed
  • Click Apply or Apply to All

Making the Presentation Run Automatically
  • Slide Show Set Up Show
  • Choose Browsed at a Kiosk
  • Slide Show Slide Transition
  • Deselect On Mouse Click
  • Select Automatically after
  • Type in number of seconds (usually 5-10)

Using Non-Linear Navigation Text Hyperlink
  • Highlight text that will become the hyperlink
  • Click on Insert Hyperlink in the Standard Toolbar
    (looks like a globe)
  • Click on Place in this Document
  • Click on the slide title
  • Click OK

Using Non-Linear Navigation Object Hyperlink
  • Click on AutoShapes in the Drawing Toolbar
  • Choose Action Buttons choose the shape for the
    hyperlink
  • Click and drag on the slide to place the button
  • In the Action Settings dialog box, under
    Hyperlink to, choose the slide to link to
