Validation of CSCs at FNAL
  • Why we decided to proceed with CSC Validation
    works?
  • 1. We have not enough testing experience in EMU
    CMS project..
  • 2. At the time, when FAST sites will be able to
    test CSCs at full speed
  • FNAL already will assemble 25-40CSCs. And this
    is wrong not to have quick feedback to
    production floor
  • 3. Production Readiness Committee strongly
    recommend to test at least 20 CSCs at FNAL. in
    parallel with production

last couple years role of LAB7 facility was test
of first several prototypes, troubleshooting
before CERN test-beam, etc
Today this is facility for CSC integration
efforts Validation of 20 first production CSCs.

Summary
  • Panels Production
  • Production Rate and Quality of Panels are under
    control
  • 100 of ME23/2 panels (for 148CSCs) will be done
    next week !!!
  • Next step is start production of Panels for
    PNPI(Russia) IHEP(China) CSCs Factories.
  • Chambers Assembling
  • FNAL Factory reached assembling rate 2
    chambers per month
  • 14 CSCs have been assembled at MP9 already
  • Tooling, QC/QA, trained technical personal on
    place (going through learning curves !!!)
  • CSCs Validation
  • LAB7 CRTS facility is a place for 20 CSCs
    Validation work
  • We have tested 9 CSCs already, and accumulated
    important experience for FAST Sites operation
  • Results from test of 9 CSCs shown NO SURPRISE
  • Support of Foreign Factories
  • FNAL designed, built and ship critical tooling
    to Russia and China
  • Trained at MP9(FNAL) technical personal for
    foreign factories tech. from R.C. built
    ME1/22/11/33/1 prototypes at FNAL physicists
    from RC participated at FAST sites planing and
    development
