5Checking Grades On-Line
- French grades and classroom attendance are
available on-line at www.salineschools.com.
Click on the parent tab then select Gradebook
Portal. If you have not already done so, you
will need to set up a new account. There is a
tutorial available. You will need to enter your
e-mail address and your childs student
identification number. - It is the students responsibility to check
his/her grade on a frequent basis. - Grades entered as Ab or Mi are figured in as
a 0 until the work has been made up. However,
grades entered as a 0 represent work that was
not completed on time, and students will not be
allowed to make up this work.
6Quizzes, Tests, Projects, Current Events
- Each quiz, test, project or current event is
assigned a point value depending on its
requirements. - When a project is assigned students will be given
a rubric so they know its point value before they
begin working on it.
7Quizzes, Tests, Projects, Current Events cont.
- Current events are presented to the class on
Tuesdays. - Each student will be assigned dates to present
current events at the beginning of the semester. - The computer keeps a running score of the number
of points earned over the possible number of
points in this category. (Students can count on
at least two scores in this category per week. )
8LAPSE grade
- The LAPSE grade is a self-evaluated, teacher
checked grade that takes in account how well you
do in the following categories on a daily basis.
LAPSE stands for - Listen
- Attend
- Participate
- Stay on Task
- Encourage classmates to do the same
9Homework
- Homework will be assigned on a regular basis. (3
5 times per week.) - Homework assignments will be posted on my teacher
website. - If a student copies the homework from another
French student, they will both receive a zero for
the assignment.
10Homework Quizzes
- For some assignments, there will be mandatory
homework quizzes. Students may use their homework
to complete the quizzes.
11Homework Quizzes cont.
- Students may also have the option of choosing to
take a homework quiz instead of doing the
assigned homework, if they feel they have already
mastered the content. - Students will lose this privilege after doing
poorly on 3 homework quizzes.
12Notebook
- Every student will need a 3-ring binder that they
will use as a notebook. There is a posted list
of what needs to go in your notebook in the
classroom. - The notebook will be checked 4 times a semester.
- Notebook checks are announced ahead of time.
13Extra Credit
- Extra Credit is assigned only for academic
reasons. - It is offered periodically to all students
throughout the semester. - No extra credit will be assigned at the end to
boost a students grade.
14Work Missed Due to Absences
- Students are responsible for obtaining homework
and in-class work for the days they were absent
immediately upon return. - It is to be completed the next academic day.
- If the student is absent more than three days,
then a conference will be required. - It is their responsibility to make up work.
15Work Missed Due to Absences
- It is also the students responsibility to
complete quizzes/tests and/or presentations. - Quizzes, tests and presentations are to be
