Exposition

• Setting- Alabama, late 1800s, in a cave on the
  mountain.
• Characters- Red Chief, Mr. Dorsett, Bill
  Driscoll, and Sam
• Background-
• Mr. Dorset, a millionaire, has a crazy son who
  thinks he is Red Chief.
• The two kidnappers target Mr. Dorset and they
  make a plan on taking his son.

Rising Action

• Bill and Sam kidnap Red Chief and take him to
  their mountain hideout.
• Bill and Red Chief play black scout while Sam
  goes to the top of the mountain and looks for any
  people looking for Red Chief.
• Sam is in the cave and watches as Bill comes up
  without the Red Chief. Bill tells Sam what he did
  with the kid.
• Sam goes to the nearest town to send a letter to
  Mr. Dorsett about the ransom for his son.

Conflict

• Red Chief causes chaos and terrifies Bill so he
  never can sleep again.
• Red Chief enjoys being kidnapped.

Climax

• The father writes back to the desperate men
  saying that they should pay him 250 in cash and
  he will gladly accept his son.

Falling Action

• Bill and Sam decide to pay the money to get rid
  of the menacing Red Chief.
• They take the kid to the fathers house and the
  kid found out that Bill and Sam were going to
  leave him at home.

Resolution

• Mr. Dorsett holds Red Chief down to let Bill and
  Sam get away.

Theme

• This story shows us that if you ever kidnap be
  wise and do research.
• You don't want to ever kidnap because you may get
  caught or have to pay the person yourself instead
  of them paying you.
