Title: DOEs CrossCutting Training Forum

1
DOEs Cross-Cutting Training Forum
  • Michelle Kirby,
  • CCTF Administration

2
  • In FY-2003 through FY-2005, due to budget
    reductions and other significant workforce
issues, the Department of Energy will be facing a
fundamental and imperative shift in its culture
from a decentralized to a more centralized
approach to develop and coordinate its training
    initiatives.
  • The Cross-Cutting Training Forum must become a
critical, strategic tool to address the
Presidents Management Agenda, the need for
corporate consistency, and to support our
training and development activities in the areas
    of E-Government, leadership and development,
    partnering and sharing, and corporate
consistency. I strongly encourage Department of
Energy organizations to use the Cross-Cutting
Training Forum and to assist us in finding ways
to make it a more valuable tool for you, your
    managers, and your organization.
  • --Dr. Jerome M. Butler
  • Director of Training and Human
  • Resource Development

DOE Tasked to Cut Training Costs
  • Congress requested GAO audit of training
  • GAO identified training redundancy as an issue
    across DOE complex (2/12/99, RCED-99-56)
  • Cross-Cutting Training Forum (CCTF) conceived,
developed, and online in October 1999 in response
    to GAOs report as
  • a method for reducing redundant training
    activities
  • a method for tracking cost savings

4
Success Stories

    on Conduct of Operations Training
  • HQ DP realized 25,000 in savings on Introduction
to Biohazards course developed by DOE-AL
  • NETO realized 220,000 in cost savings on 8
    course requests

Common Concerns
  • Who do I contact if Ive forgotten my password?
  • Michelle Kirby, (208) 526-4273 or mok_at_inel.gov
  • Who do I contact to request access to CCTF?
  • Dottie VanSteinburg, (202) 287-1678 or
    Dottie.Vansteinburg_at_hq.doe.gov
  • Do we really need to summarize each request?
  • Yes. It is important to let other participants
know the outcome of your request, and to post any
cost savings realized through sharing of
    information

15
Common Concerns
  • How can I reduce the number of emails I receive?
  • Edit your account information through "View the
Phone Book" on the CCTF main menu
  • Why was I sent back to the CCTF Login screen?
  • The system will time-out after 45 minutes on a
    single screen
  • What do you mean by Thread?
  • A request "thread" is simply the initial request
with ALL responses associated with that request
linked together in a single location
