Effective use of data
  • The rate of offending by young people who truant
    school is three times higher than by those who do
    not truant
  • Source Policy Research Bureau, 2001
  • School truants are 6 times more likely to be
    unemployed
  • Only 10 of persistent truants achieve 5 A- C
    compared with 58 of non truants

  • The average child will miss the equivalent of
    half a school year by the age of 15
  • Last year (2002/2003) 1,796,000 pupil sessions
    were missed. This is equivalent to 4 empty schools
