2Toolbars
- make sure all the toolbars you need are visible
by using View, Toolbars and selecting the
appropriate ones - you can create many shapes, diagrams, etc using
the toolbars - you can put text anywhere on the slide using the
icon on the toolbar - to draw an arrow use the icon, select
the line then use the icon - you can change the thickness of the line or arrow
using
3- Add some text to this slide, make the background
colour dark and the text colour light (i.e. give
the colours contrast) - Add some arrows to points to the text
4Layering
- you can layer items as required to get the
desired result by following the instructions
below - click the Draw arrow at
the bottom left of the screen to reveal the menus
here - having selected the object, you can either click
to bring to front or send to back, etc
5- Create the graphic below
- Make the background of the text box black, with
50 transparency and the font colour white, add a
yellow rectangle and send it to back
6Change the layer order of the following items
Now you can change the layering, you can create
lots of different shapes and effects
7Clipart
- add clipart by using the icon
- you can use the autolayout feature which allows
you to place the clipart in a predefined
placeholder or use the icon and place it once it
is on the slide
8Rotation and flipping
- you can rotate and flip an object using the Draw
menu (like you did for layering) - you can also rotate an object by using the
freeform rotate icon - select the object
- click the icon
- drag the green handles
- practice rotating this rectangle
9Grouping graphics
- use the Draw menu to group related graphics
together - useful if you are moving them around, copying,
etc - drag a box around the related graphics or use the
shift and left mouse button to select then click
the menu item
10See if you can find the hidden message on this
slide
11Have a go at grouping these graphics
Now ungroup them, select the flowers on their own
and ungroup them
12Colour
- you can change the colour of graphics using the
following icons at the bottom of the screen - you can also change the font colour using this
icon
Have a go!
13Graphs and charts
- graphs can speak many words very directly and
look very visually appealing - use whenever possible to get your message across
14Practice
- you can use the following icons to insert tables
and graphs - have a go!
15Autoshapes
You can type text directly into some of the
autoshapes
- Click the Autoshapes arrow and see which shapes
allow you to type directly into them - select the shape and drag to the required size
- right click for the shortcut menu
- add text
16Formatting the text in autoshapes
Make this text wordwrap in the shape
Rotate this text by 90 degrees
Resize this shape to fit the text
17To do
- practice using autoshapes and clipart together
with the other features mentioned to build
interesting images
18Scanned images
- of course you can also use scanned images in your
presentation - BUT
- beware of large graphics as they may take so long
to load in your presentation that you lose the
attention of the audience
19Large file warning
- scanned colour images and background effects can
make your files difficult to save - you can use winzip to compress your files so they
can be saved to your floppy disk if they are too
large (but you will need to unzip them before
they will run) - loading smaller images into your slides, then
enlarging them once in, will save some space
20Something for you to do
- create a presentation using mainly graphic
effects to get your message across - the purpose of the presentation will be to sell
something (look through the clipart or create
your own)
