Call It Courage is a book about a boy named
Mafatu who is afraid of the sea. On this
adventure with his dog Uri and his albatross Kivi
he sets of on the sea to find the courage inside
him.

• Uri is the second main character.Uri is Mafatus
  dog.He is a yellow dog. He follows him wherever
  he goes. Uri is very lazy and is as scared as
  Mafatu of the sea.

• Mafatu is the main character. When Mafatu was a
  little boy his mother died in the sea because she
  had to save him so he would live.Mafatu is now
  afraid of the sea because of that accident.

KIVI

• Kivi is Mafatus albatross. He follows Uri and
  Mafatu everywhere. When they are off finding
  something Kivi is is usually flying over top of
  then

KANA
Kana lives in Hikeuru. Kana is not a very nice
friend.He said he was Mafatu friend but when
Mafatu was gone he said he was a coward.When
Mafatu left he laughed at him.

The Ocean

• Hikueru is Mafatus home land.His dad,Tavana Nui
  is the Great Chief of Hikueru.His mom died in the
  sea because he and his mom were out fishing and
  exploring the ocean when a big tide came around
  the island and washed then to a small island. His
  mom died because she drank salt water.

• Hikueru is surrounded by the ocean.Most of the
  story takes place on the ocean. Mafatu was on the
  ocean and he got stuck in a hurricane. Can he
  Mafatu survive the hurricane?

THE HIGH ISLAND

• Mafatu finds the High Island and makes camp by
  the lagoon.he goes on walks everyday up the
  plateau.

PROBLEMS
1.When Mafatu goes off the island to prove his
courage he gets stuck in the middle of a
Hurricane on the ocean.
2.On Hikueru Mafatu has no friends so thats why
he goes to the high island.

3. Mafatu is afraid of the sea which is hard
because he lives on a island that is surround by
water.He has to learn to face his fears.
When Mafatu goes out to get his lobster trap a
shark attacks him and Uri.

1. When the hurricane was over Mafatu found The
high island.
2. Because Mafatu goes to the high island and
proves his courage when he gets to Hikueru
everyone wants so be his friend.

3.Mafatu runs away and went on the ocean so
that he spends time there and is not afraid
anymore.
4. When Mafatu goes to get his lobster fish trap
he gets attacked by a tiger shark but when it
comes to him he takes his spear and kills him.

The Tiger Shark

• The Tiger Shark is a shark that hunts alone.When
  Mafatu goes to the high Island he gets attacked
  by the tiger shark.The shark attacks Mafatus
  fishing trap when he is not there.

What I Like About The Book
I liked the part where Mafatu was on the ocean
and he got caught in a hurricane because it had
lots of descriptive words in it.If you read this
book then you will see why it is my favorite
part.

What I Did Not Like About The Book
I did not like it when they teased Mafatu because
he was afraid of the sea.I think it was wrong
because no one should get teased about something
they are afraid of. I hope everyone else thinks
it is wrong as well!

Who I Think The Book Would Be Good For
I think the book would be good for the kids and
adults that think that they are not courageous
and it shows people that pick on other people
what it feels like and what people will do if
they get hurt.

I hope you read the book Call It Courage and like
it and have lots of opinions on the book like me.
