Marketing
  • CLMA conducted internal and external research to

  • Assess the value of membership
  • Identify issues important to members
  • Evaluate programs
  • .

5
KEY RECOMMENDATIONS
  • Redirect our focus to appeal to all levels of
laboratory professionals. Remain committed to the
lab manager niche but expand offerings to serve
    supervisors and coordinators. (Membership focus)
  • Develop basic education programs that will be
targeted to entry-level managers and supervisors.
    (Education focus)
  • Consider new strategies regarding Chapter
infrastructure to ensure that all members have
access to a Chapter and that the image, quality
and value of programs provided by the Chapters
are consistent across the organization. (Chapter
    focus)
  • Assume a leadership role in communicating the
value that the laboratory profession contributes
to the healthcare continuum. (Advocacy focus)

6
KEY RECOMMENDATIONS
  • Develop an Annual Conference Long Range Plan to
reverse declining trend in attendance and to
create a new value proposition for exhibitors.
    (Education focus)
  • Develop a new corporate identity/logo and theme
line to better delineate the organizations
mission and value to members. (Marketing focus)
  • Develop an Image Awareness Marketing Plan with
the primary goal of enhancing the visibility of
    the association and increasing membership.
    (Marketing focus)

    individual organizations
  • Each CLC member contributes funds toward the
    coalition activities

  • Improved reimbursements rates for new tests

10
Collaboration
  • CLMA is currently involved in collaborative
activities and alliances with partners that share
values, vision and strategies. The intent is to
achieve mutually beneficial objectives for each
    others organizations and/or members.

11
Examples of Current Collaborations
12
Education
  • The overall, quality and appropriateness of
programs continue to be rated high
  • There is a continuing need for education and
    resources around major issues
  • The entry-level managers and supervisors have
little or no formal management training. This
suggests a need for the development of new
programs or repackage existing programs directed
specifically to the entry-level managers and
    supervisors

NEW 2004
13
Education
  • The education programs need to be accessible and
    affordable
  • The education programs should present less theory
and more practical tools and solutions.
  • Members view workshops and discussion forums as
high value in gaining new ideas.
  • CLMA members believe there is a critical need for
a reliable resource of benchmarking data

    Emerging Leaders
  • Bench level mangers and supervisors
  • We will explore new member categories with
associated member benefits to satisfy various
    levels of membership

15
Chapter Membership (What members tell us)
  • Less than half of our members take advantage of
    Chapter activities
  • There are a number of struggling chapters and /
or poor education programs on the chapter level
  • The image of a chapter may influence an
individuals perception of the entire organization
  • There continues to be a strong appeal for more
guidance and support for Chapters from executive
    office
