Problem unwanted tripping
  • The causes
  • Atmospheric discharges (lightnings)
  • Operational discharges (switch-off in MV)
  • Consequences in RCDs
  • Sudden and unjustified tripping (out of service)

  • Features
  • 8/20µs surge current test 3000A
  • AC and A type available
  • AP-R and G (Austrian) commercial designation

14
RCCBs design
  • New design
  • Differently from the present F3 series, the new
F200 series hasnt any projection on the front
side, thus guaranteeing a better homogeneity
    with MCBs ranges.
  • Moreover the upper and lower shoulders have
    been eliminated.

RCCBs new terminal features
  • Tightening
  • The new terminal has two distinct slots which
    can be wired.
  • The front slot of the terminal can be wired
with cables up to 25 mm2, while the back one is
suitable for wiring with busbars or cables up to
    10 mm2.
  • In the screwing phase, the closing of the two
slots is carried out in two opposite directions
    (bi-directional movement), thus guaranteeing a
maximum tightening torque of 2,8 Nm.

Open terminal
Closed terminal
16
RCCBs new terminal features
  • Wiring
  • The availability of two slots for each
    terminal offers different wiring
solutions thanks to the possibility of
    deriving independently two cables/each terminal
from the same RCCB. The back space, in fact,
can be used for another circuit, for an
auxiliary circuit or to feed instruments with
small section cables without having to connect
them in the same space of the power cables.

RCCBs new terminal demo
18
RCCBs new terminal features
  • Safety
  • The structure of the new terminal avoids wrong
wiring operations once the terminal is closed,
in fact, the two spaces arent accessible
    anymore.

19
RCCBs safer wiring with cables demo
20
RCCBs new terminal features
  • Plus of wiring with busbars
  • Differently from the past solution, the busbars
are fitted in the back terminals slot so that
the front side of the terminal is completely
visible during the wiring operation .
  • The wiring is now easier for installers and
also the accessibility in case of maintenance
    operations is improved.

21
RCCBs positive contact indication (PCI)
  • More Information with PCI
  • RCCBs can support, during their life, high
short circuit currents for a short time
    (until MCBs intervene).
  • Sometimes, owing to repeated short-circuits or
in presence of MCBs not opportunely coordinated,
the RCCB might be damaged internally and its
contacts can result partially welded , and in
this case the circuit could be live also in the
    open position.
  • The presence of the PCI on all products of
F200 range guarantees the verification of the
    RCCB efficiency .

22
RCCBs improved short circuit performance
Short circuit performances combination
  • MKTs that dont use RCD-blocks need higher
coordination performances for RCCBs, in order
to be used in all industrial application
  • Im and Inc are more and more used in technical
    specification of consultants/engineers
  • ABB product reaches a level of coordination good
for domestic/civil application but low if
    compared with competitors performances-----?

RCCBs auxiliary elements
  • The range of auxiliary elements include
  • Auxiliary contact S2C-H 6R (H)
  • Universal Auxiliary/Signal contact S2C-S/H
    6R (S/H)
  • Undervoltage release (UR)

RCD- Blocks fitting on MCBs
Also DDA200 have the fitting pins shaped
according to the size of the MCB to assemble.
31
RCD- Blocks fitting on MCBs
In compliance with IEC/EN 61009 standard, DDA200
have a new fitting system withclips in order to
prevent that RCD-Block could be disassembled once
fitted to the MCB.
32
RCD-blocks easier installation
Housing with holes in the upper side
  • assure an easy wiring of MCBs fitted with
    RCD-blocks with standard busbars
  • allow the possibility to fit MCBs fitted with
RCD-blocks on the ways of Type B distribution
    boarD

33
RCD-blocks additional feature
Additional terminal for remote tripping on 63A
size DDA-blocks
  • add the function of remote tripping to a
    standard DDA200 block
  • allows space and cost saving for the customer
when an auxiliary emergency circuit is needed
for an RCBO (MCBRCD-block)?no need for
    additional shunt trip
