Social Policy

• ABB adopted its social policy in February 2001
  It was drawn from five sources which include
  United Nations Universal Declaration of Human
  Rights, International Labor Organizations
  fundamental principles on rights at work, OECD
  Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, Global
  Sullivan Principles and the Social Accountability
  8000, and the Council of Economic Priorities
  Accreditation Agency.

• Major ABB manufacturing facilities have received
  or are in the process of obtaining ISO 14001
  certification.

  SF6 recovery systems to reduce greenhouse

  the research and development of alternative
  energy sources.

• Economical, small upfront investment, and easily
  adaptable to customer specifications.
• Fuel Cells
• Highly efficient, no pollutant emissions, and can
  be installed at the point of use which saves the
  cost of traditional infrastructure.

Access to Electricity

• ABB works in partnerships with other companies,
  governments, non-governmental organizations and
  aid agencies to promote sustainable development
  in rural and semi-urban areas of Africa and Asia.
• 1.6 billion people live without access to
  electricity
• Efforts can be seen in Southern Tanzania
• Efforts are under way to extend the program to
  other countries

Environmental Policies

• ABBs environmental policy is an integral part of
  its commitment to sustainability and is embedded
  in its strategies, processes, and day-to-day
  business throughout the company
• Support the Kyoto Protocol and other
  international efforts that seek to reduce global
  warming
• Initiated a global policy with the World Energy
  Council to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by one
  billion tons annually

• ABB's products, systems, solutions and services
  are designed to improve our customers' businesses
  - centered around improving grid reliability and
  increasing industrial productivity - while
