• Once a week meetings, 730 900 PM
• One campout per month
• One week summer camp
• One service opportunity every other month
• Miscellaneous events
• You Dont Have To Do Everything!!!

Cub Scouts vs. Boy Scouts

• Boys become more independent
• Advancement is individual, not group (patrol)
• More Troop and less Patrol
• More doing than talking
• Boy lead Ask your PL or Ask your SPL
• Full uniforms shirt, pants, belt, and socks

• NOT Den Leaders
• More directing than leading

• Must be trained to be an Assistant Scoutmaster
  (to sign off advancement)

Expectations - Advancement

• First Class in 12 to 18 months
• Maximum of 4 Merit Badges the first year
• Individual progress vs. group
• No credit for simply participating
• Much less memorization
• Whitteln Chit Expires at Crossover

Expectations Troop Meetings

• Boy Lead Loud and chaotic
• Sometimes instructive, sometimes business,
  sometimes just fun
• Be patient. Eagle is a 4 or 5 year journey

Expectations Full Uniforms

• Scouts must have a full uniform
• Official shirt with all patches
• Official pants
• Official belt
• Official socks
• There are no excepts (e.g. green pants)

• Boys run as much of the Troop as possible
• Boys set up their camp
• Boys cook their meals and clean up
• Boys pack their gear
• Boys talk to adult leaders
• Boys to their own work
• Adults Put your hands in your pockets

• Boys share tents
• Boys dont sleep with parents
• Everyone contributes
• No paper products
• Every campout is a backpacking trip (dropped 1
  mile from campsite)
• No underage siblings (except Family Campout)

Underage Siblings

• Activities are geared towards Boy Scouts
• Boy Scouts are trained for campouts
• Siblings could be a distraction to older scouts
• Siblings are not covered by BSA insurance
• Give the little guys something to look forward to
• Against Guide to Safe Scouting

Expectations Discipline

• Boy Scout Sign (Signs Up)
• Older scouts are the bosses
• 1000 in tent, 1030 lights out
• A campfire is a one way street
• Class A shirt to and from every event
• No horseplay (no sticks)
• Prohibited items

Knowledge Scoutmaster Conference

• A talk with the SM
• Required for every rank
• The Scout schedules with the SM
• Done outside of Troop meetings

• A talk with some Troop adults
