The sculpture of the Eagle became the emblem not
only of the Pyatigorsk resort, but of the entire
region of the Caucasian Mineral Waters. Its
author embodied in stone a mountain legend about
an eagle mortally stung by a snake and finding
deliverance from inevitable death in a stream of
healing water on the Hot Mountain. In 1973, the
composition was re-cast from bronze at the
Leningrad Monumental Sculpture Plant, and
installed in the same place.
