2Wuhan is the capital of Hubei Province in the
People's Republic of China. It is the largest
city in Hubei and the most populous city in
Central China, with a population of over 11
million. The name "Wuhan" came from the city's
historical origin from the conglomeration of
Wuchang, Hankou and Hanyang, which are
collectively known as the "Three Towns of Wuhan".
It lies in the eastern Jianghan Plain, at the
confluence of the Yangtze river and its largest
tributary, the Han River and is known as "Nine
Provinces' Thoroughfare"

15Situated at the convergence of the Yangtze River
and the Han River is the rain making Dragon King
Temple
16According to information presented in an
anthology of ancient poetry published during the
Qing Dynasty, local people built the Dragon King
Temple by the river to worship the dragon king in
the fourth year of Qianlong Emperor's reign
(1739).
17In Chinese mythology, the dragon king is the
ruler of the rivers and seas. Inside the temple
are interesting structures like Dragon King
Pavilion, Rain Prayer Terrace, and additional
halls
18As a place which commemorates Wuhan's many
battles against flooding, Dragon King Temple is
now a famous scenic spot where visitors can
admire the natural beauty of Wuhan's two great
rivers, as well as learn more about the city's
history and culture
19Red represents fire and is the most popular color
in China. It is also the national color
representing happiness, beauty, vitality, good
luck, success and good fortune. Red is famously
popular in relation to anything Chinese and is
widely used during festivals and important events
like weddings
20Heptachord Terrace (Guqin Tai) is a tranquil
recreational site that commemorates Bo Ya, a
musician that specialised in the guqin (a plucked
seven-string Chinese instrument), during the
Spring and Autumn Periods
21Legends suggests the site is where Bo met his
confident Zhong Ziqi both were from Hubei. A
year after their encounter, Bo learnt that Zhong
had passed away. The tragic news broke Bos heart
because he felt that nobody could understand his
music anymore
Heptachord Terrace (Guqin Tai)
22Yu Boya then broke his guqin and decided to never
play it again. The famed relationship between Bo
and Zhong is associated with a common idiomatic
Chinese expression zhiyin, which connotes
friendship while literally meaning
understanding the music.
23Bo Ya's story exemplifies the Chinese ideal of
friendship. The term Zhiyin (??,literally "to
know the tone") has come to describe a close and
sympathetic friend
24The Legend of Yu Boya and Zhong Ziqi, a household
story spread in the ancient State of Chu (now
mainly referred to central Chinas Hubei
province), was listed in the fourth batch of
Chinese National Intangible Cultural Heritage,
according to the local media on August 7, 2014

27Unfortunately, Wuhan gained international fame
as the start of the coronavirus Covid-19
outbreak. SARS-CoV-2, a novel coronavirus that
caused the COVID-19 pandemic, was first
identified in Wuhan in December 2019
