Bedsheets
Introduction - Bagru is a rural Indian village
located in Rajasthan, east of Jaipur. Bagru
printing is the process of printing on textiles

It is known for block textile printing of
sanganer prints in which patterns in rich bright
colours are printed on white backgrounds.

  • Motifs are carved on blocks of wood made by
craftsmen known as kharaudi. Main patterns
carved on wooden blocks are Patashi (floral
    designs), Jhad (tendrils) and hathi
    (elephant).
  • Bedsheet manufacturers and wholesalers in India
have a huge market supply of these bedsheets as
they are famous for their premium quality and
    eye-catching patterns.
  • Features of Sanganeri Print Bedsheets-
  • Delicate floral prints are used in the
manufacturing of Sanganeri print bedsheets. A
blend of silk, techniques, precision and patterns
are used to make it look alluring.
  • The motifs used in sanganeri prints are called
butas or butis. Geometrical patterns and
    modern designs are also used.
  • Vibrant colors and designs are used to give these
    bedsheets precise and smooth finishes.
  • Sanganeri bedsheets are comparatively more
    affordable.
  • These bedsheets are highly durable and easy to
    wash.
  • Process of Printing
  • Hand block printing is considered to be an
intensive crafts that requires skilled craftsmen
as it has many different stages to its printing
    process.
  • Carving the block- The wooden blocks are carved
using traditional tools like saw, chisels,
rulers and wooden mallets. Each design requires a
    different set of blocks.
  • Preparation of the cloth- A high-quality cotton
cloth is treated (eg-bleached) to make it
softer, richer and more absorbent. The fibers
swell and open up their pores to absorb the
printing paste. After this a harda solution is
applied and then it is dried in the sun. The
fabric is ready to be printed on.
  • Mixing the dyes- They dyes is mixed uniformly in
a printing tray. The solution is prepared by
uniformly mixing the colour and transferring it
to the binder, which is then directly poured in
the tray where it is soaked by the colours.
  • Printing the fabric- There are different methods
of printing used in the manufacturing process of
both these handblock print bedsheets. Printing is
usually done on a wooden table (the tables size
depends on the size of the fabric). After
printing, the fabric might be treated with some
chemical solutions or it would be left

out to dry in order to retain the colour. After
the long and tiring process, the fabric is ready
to be stitched. Well- skilled tailors stitch the
fabrics with colourful threads. Source
