What is Emotional Intelligence?

• Emotional intelligence is defined as the
• ability to understand and manage your
• emotions of yourself as an individual. It also
• means that you can recognize and influence
• the emotions of those around you. The most
• important thing to be known is that this was the
• term coined in 1990 by researchers John Mayer
• and Peter Salovey. But the popularity of this
• word came after psychologist Daniel Goleman.

• Self-Awareness This is something that is
  considered to be the core of everything.
  Self-awareness describes your ability to not only
  understand your strengths and weaknesses.
• Self-Management All the leaders who are lacking
  self-management tend to react and have a harder
  time keeping their impulses in check.
• Social Awareness Social awareness is considered
  to be the ability for recognizing the emotions of
  others and the dynamics in play within your
  organization.
• Relationship Management Some of the people there
  avoid conflict, but it is very important to
  properly address issues as they arise. So, to
  keep your team happy and in a good state of
  mind, you need to learn relationship management.
