ABOUT UNIVERSITY
The Government of India in 2016 changed the
status of the university from a state university
to a central university by the virtue of an act
passed in the parliament on May 26, 2016. The
university is fairly new however in reality its
history goes far back to 1878. Since then the
university has seen many ups and downs and is
presently now a premier center of learning
agriculture. The institute furthermore is an
Institute of National Importance. Moreover, the
institute has under its belt has seven colleges.
These colleges deal in the diversified fields of
agriculture.

ABOUT UNIVERSITY
Namely, the colleges of the university are,
College of Agriculture Engineering, Tirhut
College of Engineering, College of fisheries,
College of Community Science, College of Basic
Science and Engineering, School of agribusiness
and Management, and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay
College of Horticulture and Forestry. Moreover,
the University has extension services that by
large focus on serving the farmers with adequate
knowledge and training. Moreover, the Agri
scenario by large has changed a lot which calls
for professional knowledge, and thus a college
stands to be a key driver of Agri and Agro
education.

HISTORY
Established as the Imperial Agriculture Research
Institute the institute operated in its formation
days under the British Raj until independence.
Since then the University has gone through a sea
of changes. The university which was initially
established in Bihar Pusa as an Agriculture
research institute in 1905 was actually moved to
Delhi Pusa because of the devastating Bihar
Earthquake. However, the buildings and infra
could not be moved thus the Government of Bihar
transformed the remaining infra of the institute
into Rajendra Prasad Agricultural University.
Thus the history of the institute goes back to
1905 however it can be correctly said that the
institute was formally established in 1970 by the
Government of Bihar. However, from 1970 till
2016, the institute was just a research-based
center of study, and only in 2016, the Government
of India changed the institute into a central
University. Furthermore, it is only in 2016 that
the university received its formal name of Dr.
Rajendra Prasad Agricultural University. It is
notable, the credit for the formation of the
institute and the IARI ( the institute after
shifted to Delhi) goes largely to Lord Curzon
and mainly to Lord Minto who chalked out the
vision of the institute and fulfilled it to a
great extent.

CAMPUS
The campus of the university carries a thorough
and well-accounted history. Moreover, the campus
was set up in 1975. The campus is in Darbhanga
Bihar. The present campus houses facilities like
sports areas, hostels, libraries, academic
blocks, and administration facilities. Moreover,
the campus is beautiful and well maintained. It
is among the largest campus in all of Bihar as
well. The Muzzafarpur airport is around 50 Km
away from the campus which means one will spend
around one and half hours to reach the campus by
cab. Furthermore, the nearest major Railway
junction the Muzaffar Nagar Junction is around 45
Km away from the campus.

COURSES OFFERED
The university offers nine programs that are
further structure into a category of courses. The
programs offered by the university are M.Sc,
M.Tech, B.tech, MBA, PGDM, MF.Sc, and B.Sc.
Likewise, the university offers as many as 34
courses. Some of the popular courses available at
the university are MBA in Agribusiness
management, B.Sc in Agriculture, B.Tech in bio
Technology, MBA in rural management, etc.
Moreover, since the university is a central
university it is highly subsidized and the course
fee is thus low. The total fee for the MBA
program can go up to 14K and the course fee for
Bachelorss program lingers around 20K.

PLACEMENTS
The college does have an active placement cell
that looks after the placement activities.
Therefore it also actively trains and develops
students for placements. T also invites companies
to the campus. Companies like Rallis Tata,
Virbac, Yarra, and Aditya Birla group. Recruit at
the campus. It is also notable the students are
prepared into graduates of quality that will not
only fit in agri-business but can also fit into
any other roles, like marketing, finance, etc.

INFRASTRUCTURE
Infrastructure directly in one glance shows the
capability of a college. Proper infrastructure
coupled with adequate staff and teaching faculty
is the o to the requirement for a student.
Moreover, quality education and holistic learning
are achievable through the ample availability of
infrastructure and facilities. Colleges with
proper infrastructure contribute directly and
indirectly to the overall development of a
graduate. The infrastructure available at the
institute is as follows.

Library The library at the central university
provides a range of services and houses a wide
variety of books and documents for related
studies. Likewise, services available at the
library are CD-ROM databases for research and
studies, circulation services, Book bank service,
and reference and information services.
Furthermore, the library uses OPAC for cataloging
and ease of use. Likewise, the library has access
to national research databases and houses more
than 70K documents in it. Furthermore, it has
free internet and reading spaces and journals
available as well.

Hostel The institute has hostels separately
available for male and female students.
Furthermore, the hostels are within the campus
boundaries and are well maintained. Clean
drinking water and free spaces are also available
at the hostels. Furthermore, the hostels
combinedly can house as many as 350 students.
Furthermore, there is a total of 5 Hostel
building blocks for boys and 9 for girls.

INFRASTRUCTURE
Sports facilities The institute takes sports
quite excitingly and the students do as well. The
students in the university delve into sports and
related activities quite vigorously. Furthermore,
the university also organizes sports activities,
sports function annually and seasonally.
Likewise, sports facilities available at the
university include football, volleyball, cricket,
badminton, chess, carrom and table tennis. The
university further suggests it is in the process
of developing other sports facilities soon.

Other Facilities Other facilities available at
the institute are the cafeteria, auditorium,
seminar hall, and free WI-FI on campus. Apart
from these facilities, recreational activities
are also available in the university. Students
can participate in these activities which
contribute towards personality development.

rajendra agricultural university? All the
available courses have had some minimum bar and
requirements. Students meeting the requirements
can apply to the university. The university
accordingly selects students and admits them.
Some exams may require one to appear for the
entrance exam as well. However, regarding direct
admission, there are no such admissions
available. Q.2 Will rajendra agricultural

most chances are the university will take
entrance examination marks into consideration.
