reseller, Cloud, VPS, WordPress etc. It can be

- Addon Domain- An addon domain is a domain that is
fully functional and which is added under a main
domain. It can be created from within the control
panel. It is an additional registered domain
which can be hosted in the same account as the
primary domain. - Apache- Apache is a stable web server which is
used by most hosting providers.
5 Backup, Bandwidth, Bounce Rate,
Browser
- Backup- A backup refers to a copy of data which
saves the files of a website. It helps to restore
data when there is data loss. Manual as well as
automatic backups can be configured. - Bandwidth- Bandwidth is the amount of data that
is transferred to or from a web server in a given
time. It indicates the amount of traffic that a
website can facilitate. - Bounce Rate- Bounce rate refers to the volume of
visitors to a website that leave within a very
short duration. A high bounce rate indicates
either of, or all of, these facts that either the
quality of page is low and/or the purpose of the
page doesnt match with what the visitors are
looking for. - Browser- A browser refers to an application
software, which is used to access the Internet.
It is the web browser that retrieves the relevant
content from the Internet and displays it on the
device of a user, when a web page is requested by

7 CGI, Cloudlet, Control Panel, CMS
- CGI- CGI is the abbreviation for Common Gateway
Interface. It is a program that serves to
translate a web servers data. It displays that
data on a web page or in an email. - Cloudlet- A cloudlet is a small-scale cloud data
center, which is mobility-enhanced, and located
at the edge of the Internet. Its function is to
support resource-intensive mobile applications. - Control Panel- Web hosting companies provide
control panels for enabling the management of web
hosting accounts. A control panel is a web-based
interface through which customers can manage
their hosting services in a single interface. - CMS- CMS is the abbreviation for Content
Management System. It runs in the backend for
managing content. It aids in posting content on a
website as well as in adding a new theme to a
website. Examples of some popular CMS are
WordPress, Drupal etc.
8 cPanel, Cron Jobs, Database, Data Center
- cPanel- cPanel refers to a web hosting control
panel that has been developed by cPanel, LLC. for
managing a domain through graphical interface and
automation tools. It makes use of a standard web
browser and a three-tier structure. cPanel can
manage a single hosting account. - Cron Jobs- Cron Jobs are tools for scheduling
commands that need to be executed periodically. A
cron lets users schedule commands to run
automatically at a certain date or time. It can
be set up from control panels, such as cPanel. - Database- Various types of data (information) are
stored in a database in an organized form for the
data to be accessed, updated and managed easily. - Data Center- Web hosting servers, networking
systems and the various components of a companys
IT infrastructure are housed in a data center,
which is a physical infrastructure.
9Dedicated Hosting, Dedicated IP, Disk Space
- Dedicated Hosting- Dedicated hosting is a type of
web hosting, wherein an entire server is used to
host a website. In it, the entire resources of a
server are meant for a single website that is
hosted on it. It can be both, Windows-based and
Linux-based. - Dedicated IP- An IP address is assigned to every
domain name. A dedicated IP refers to a unique
address on the Internet, which is exclusively
dedicated for the use of a single hosting
account. Sites that have a dedicated IP address
perform better in search engine results when
compared to those that have shared IP. - Disk Space- Disk space refers to the amount of
server space that is allocated to a domain name.
It is expressed in KB, MB, GB wherein 1KB is
1024 bytes, 1MB is 1024 KB, 1GB is 1024 MB.
10 DKIM, DNS
- DKIM- DKIM is the abbreviation for DomainKeys
Identified Mail and is a method for email
authentication. It aids in detecting email
spoofing. - DNS- DNS is the abbreviation for Domain Name
System. It translates domain names into numerical
IP addresses, which can be understood by
computers. It is a decentralized naming system,
which is hierarchical, and is meant for resources
that are connected to the Internet.

Domain Transfer
- Domain Aliases- A domain alias refers to a domain
name that points to some other domain. It is used
for accessing the same website via many different
web addresses. - Domain Registrar- A domain name is registered by
a domain registrar. When a domain name is
purchased it needs to be registered for it to be
linked with ones IP address. - Domain Privacy- Domain privacy, which is often
referred to as Whois privacy, keeps the contact
information of the registrant confidential by
replacing his/her information in the WHOIS with a
forwarding services information. This service is
provided by many domain name registrars. - Domain Transfer- Domain transfer is the process
that is meant for changing the registrar of a
domain name. When a domain has been transferred,
all the relevant information is maintained by the
new registrar.
