  • Are you frightened of having a discussion with
your classmates or the person next to you?
  • My greatest challenge while I was a foreign
exchange student in Germany was initiating
discussions with strangers. Some days it was
straightforward, other days it was challenging.
Often you're just not in the mood and other days
you're out there. I have a few easy ideas for you
if you're in a foreign country and you're having
a rough time attempting to launch a discussion
because you're not sure what to tell or you don't
know how to say it. Do you want to learn more?
    Visit ????.
  • Tell "hi" just. Tell somebody how things are
going. You could be offered a one word answer or
more by the person you're asking. You open the
door to the idea of holding a discussion by at
least questioning. We think so many times about
simply saying "hi" and then, to lament it
afterwards, because we don't go up with it. Avoid
being terrified to say hello and just do it.
  • Ask a dumb question. Wherever you go today, ask
someone a straightforward question. It doesn't
matter if you know the answer already. Asking
someone a question will make you warm up for an
opportunity to speak to someone later. I will
still ask strangers stupid questions. If they
were to send me a strange look, I would just say
that I'm new to the area. Invariably, this will
initiate a debate about where I was from.

3
  • If you initiate a discussion with others,
question and memorize their name! Write down your
name and a description of them on your mobile
phone to help you recall later. If you wish to
learn more about this, visit ????????
  • The next time you see this guy, they'll be
impressed that you know their name and you'll
have a big community of acquaintances you know
after a while doing this. My city was near two
main train stations, Berlin and Magdeburg, in
Germany. I will still see somebody I met or had
spoken to before on the train at the end of my
    year.
  • Ask anyone a query about the lesson while you are
at college, in between lessons. They would be
more than happy to support you because it will
look like in practice you are trying to pay
attention and it is valued by your peers. I would
ask my classmates at school every Monday and
Tuesday how their weekend was, what they did,
etc., and then I would ask what they were doing
over the weekend on Thursdays and Fridays. Stay
linked with your classmates and bring them up to
date. After doing this, you'll get invited to do
    more fun.
  • They come home from work every day while you're
host parents, or wherever they question them how
their day is going. Ask them to elaborate further
on it when they give you a response. Wie was dein
Tag?"Wie war dein Tag?"gut."gut."Ja? erzähl mir
(ya? tell me about it)"Ja? erzähl mir (ya? tell
me about it)" They'll typically be able to speak
to you if your host family is normal, and they'll
love the fact that you really care for them. Your
host family cares a lot for you and telling them
how they're going is the least you can do. You
can learn more at ??? ??.

4
  • Go with them while your host family goes shopping
for something. Actually, if they go anywhere,
inquire if you should follow them. Ever! Always!
And though you're drained. Oh, just go! In the
    long term, it's worth it.
  • Limit English to Sundays only (or some other
language than German). This one is rough. You
have to avoid speaking any language except German
if you ever want to communicate fluently. You're
going to learn German in Germany, so say it! You
have this opportunity to live with a family and
talk the language on a regular basis, so take
full advantage of this chance! Tell your friends
and relatives that this is what you do, but
they're not likely to be insulted. Only search
Facebook, Skype, text, IM, on Sundays, whatever.
If you have to check your email daily, make sure
it's only once a day and stay off the machine
    until you've read it!
  • Go for a stroll or a cycle ride if you have
nothing to do and you are inclined to go on the
phone! Find out the place in which you work!
Discover sites that you've never been before. Or
call a pal and head somewhere to hang out. The
point here is to get into the routine of getting
out of the house every time you feel bored.
