About Title IX
  • Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972
defines that no person in the United States
shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from
participation in, denied the benefits of, or
subjected to discrimination under any education
program or activity getting Federal financial
    help."
  • Sexual assault is one of the most serious
offenses a person can face in college. Victims of
sexual assault and witnesses or other parties can
report the incident to the Title IX coordinator
for investigation. Both victim and accused can
and should seek the help of a qualified attorney
as soon in the process as possible. Lawyer will
ensure that basic rights to fair proceeding are
preserved, access to relevant evidence, and right
    to present own evidence.
  • Sexual harassment can be physical, verbal, or
visual. School is obligated to investigate the
claim under Title IX procedures, which guarantee
    the right to legal representation.

  • Title IX legislation was made to bring equity to
athletics, threatening to withhold federal funds
from colleges, universities, or any educational
institution that did not offer equal
opportunities for both men and women whether in
sports or in other educational experiences.
  • Allen Law can help if one believes that the
university is not providing equal opportunities
    in its sports programs.

  • Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 forbids
employers from discriminating based on race,
color, religion, sex, or national origin. It
    protects employees, regardless of whether
employer receives federal funding or not. Title
VII uniquely covers discrimination on the basis
of religion, which is not covered by either Title
    VI or Title IX.
