• Yahoo provides the addresses of simple mail
  transfer protocol (SMTP) servers you can use in
  the email application on your computer or mobile
  device. After setting a Yahoo SMTP server as the
  outgoing server in your email application, you
  can send messages directly from the program.
  Yahoo provides different SMTP servers for people
  with standard Yahoo Mail accounts and Yahoo
  Business Email users. You can also set up an
  incoming IMAP or POP3 server to receive Yahoo
  Mail in your email applications inbox

STEPS

• Open Thunderbird and type your name, Email
  address and password
• Click Continue
• Tick the check box on IMAP(remote folders) and
  click on Manual config

Now we need to manually enter in our settings
similar to the following. Under the Server
hostname section verify the following.
Incoming imap.mail.yahoo.com / Port Either
993 (ssl) or 143 (very infrequently 585 (ssl))
Outgoing smtp.mail.yahoo.com / Port Either
25 or 465 (ssl) (very infrequently 2525)
Click Re-test
