Aminohippuric acid

• IUPAC name (4-Aminobenzamido)acetic acid.
• C9H10N2O3 .
• It is white crystalline solid , It is soluble in
  water and alcohol and more soluble in acids and
  alkalies.
• M .W 194.19 g/mol .

Preparation and uses

• PAH free acid prepared with the addition of
  sodium hydroxide it has a pH of 6.7- 7.6.(HCL).

• The sodium aminohippurate injection after sodium
  bisulphate is added to prevent the darkening of
  the solution.It is given intravenously in 2 g
  dose for renal (kidney)function determination.

  sodium drugs used to test liver function.

• It is white , crystalline powder that is
  odourless and hygroscopic in nature .It is souble
  in water, but insoluble in alcohol and acetone .

Uses
Bromsulphthalein is a dye used in liver function
tests. Determining the rate of removal of the dye
from the blood stream gives a measure of liver
function.

• sulpho bromopthalein sodium test
• Dose 5 mg /body weight (50kg).
• 45 min interval .
• Concentration measured 45 min to 2 hur.
• Result gt 5 dye retained, normal working liver
  function.

  effect rarely, Dizziness drowsinessheadache na

Uses

• Metyrapone is a drug used for test of pitutiary
  function test.
• First this durg stoppedP-450 enzymes(metyrapone
  is metabolized by P-450 enzymes).
• Single-dose overnight metyrapone test
• 30 mg/kg body weight metyrapone is given
  orally at 11 PM.
• Standard metyrapone test
• 750 mg metyrapone is given orally
  every 4 hours for 24 hours, starting 8 AM.
