Shaving Myths and Facts
2
A lot of people are skeptical about shaving
because of the myths associated with it. Lets
look at some of those and get them busted.
Myth
Shaving makes hair to grow coarser, darker and
thicker.
Fact
It is one of the most popular shaving myths. An
individuals genetic and hormonal makeup
determines hair growth. What a person feels as
thick and coarse are only the initial strands of
hair sprouting out. Sometimes, hair can appear
darker because the hair is shorter and more
exposed. As the hair grows longer it takes its
natural colour.
3
Myth
Shaving makes hair grow on a previously unshaven
area.
Fact
This is not true. Hair growth is determined by
hormones. Hair growth patterns keep changing over
the course of lifetime. If shaving made hair to
grow, there would be no baldness in the world.
4
Myth
Using pre-shaving products is not necessary.
Fact
Pre-shave is just more important to some than
others. People who have dry skin should us an
oil, which will help plump up the skin cells.
People with oily skin should use a pre-shave balm
which has tea-tree and eucalyptus oil. Using
pre-shave products makes it easier to shave.
5
Myth
You can use anything on your face after shaving.
Fact
This is another popular myth that people have.
Never use an alcohol-based after-shave. An
aftershave that neutralizes the skins pH is the
best for all skin types. In winter, use a
moisturizing after-shave.
6
Myth
Theres no difference between using a foam, a gel
and a balm for shaving.
Fact
Most of the times there are butane and iso-butane
gases in aerosol forms of shaving products like
foams and gels. Using these products for shaving
can make the skin dry. A non-aerosol balm is the
better option.
7
Myth
Shaving causes burns and nicks.
Fact
Getting a smooth shape is about applying the
right amount of pressure. Applying too much
pressure on the blade can causes shaving burns or
nicks.
8
Myth
Shaving causes ingrowth.
Fact
This is not the case. Ingrowth is caused by the
surface condition of your skin and the natural
texture of the hair. In fact, shaving removes the
tiniest strands of hair from your skin.

  • Did you know shaving dates back to prehistoric
times? Cave paintings and other historical
artifacts tell us that even cave men preferred to
have a stubble free skin though their methods
were a little tougher. For all of us shaving has
    become so easy.
  • The whole experience of shaving is not just
convenient but very time and cost effective, skin
friendly and self-reliant. So why not have get
away from all these myths and start shaving.

  • If you notice anything unusual in facial or body
hair, visit your doctor. This could be a sign of
