Title: Anthony Harrelson: FDA, A Balancing Act
1Anthony Harrelson FDA, A Balancing Act
2Because Anthony Harrelson is attempting to
develop a new drug to help combat and possibly
cure the HIV and Ebola virus, he must eventually
contend with the FDA. That being the case, he
knows that a good drug will stand through the
scrutiny because the FDA does not want to inhibit
a good drug from going on the market, but simply
wants to stop a bad one from endangering the
lives and health of the general public. That is
the whole purpose of the FDA as an entity.
3Anthony Harrelson can respect the FDA because
they try their best to determine whether a drugs
effects are worth their side-effects. This can be
difficult because the way a drug effects one
person can be vastly different than the way that
it effects the next one. The FDA also has to
consider whether or not they believe that with a
small sample size of people, they can determine
the effects of a drug across an entire
population. The difficulty in this is
self-explanatory.
4Anthony Harrelson plans to have his drugs
released on the market once he obtains an FDA
seal of approval for them. He knows that this is
no easy process, but that the protocol exists for
a reason, so that the consumer is safe. The FDA
has a difficult task when it comes to approving a
drug. They have to consider so many factors that
are impossible to determine with certainty in the
trial phase. This includes predicting how another
drug might mix with the current one they are
testing.
5Anthony Harrelson believes that when his drugs
are ready for it, they will stand up to the
scrutiny of the FDA. This is because he will
dedicate himself and his team of qualified
experts to making sure that they dont submit the
drug for testing until it is ready. Then it is up
to the FDA to determine whether or not any
side-effects the drugs may have are outweighed by
the benefits. Only time will tell if Anthonys
drug will pass the test and make it to the
marketplace.
