Sleep Disorders Can be Dangerous....
Find your solution here.
2
To get started, lets have a look at the common
sleep disorders around us.
  • The most common sleep disorders we see around us
    are
  • Sleep Apnea
  • COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
  • Emphysema (type of chronic obstructive pulmonary
    disease)

3
So, These were the most common sleep disorders we
usually face. Now let us take a closer look at
them...
  • What is Sleep Apnea?

Ans Sleep apnea is a type of sleep disorder
characterized by pauses in breathing or instances
of shallow or infrequent breathing during
sleep. Sleep apnea affects the way you breathe
when youre sleeping. In untreated sleep apnea,
breathing is briefly interrupted or becomes very
shallow during sleep. These breathing pauses
typically last between 10 to 20 seconds and can
occur up to hundreds of times a night, jolting
you out of your natural sleep rhythm. As a
consequence, you spend more time in light sleep
and less time in the deep.
4
This chronic sleep deprivation results in daytime
sleepiness, slow reflexes, poor concentration,
and an increased risk of accidents. Sleep apnea
can also lead to serious health problems over
time, including diabetes, high blood pressure,
heart disease, stroke, and weight gain.
Type Of Sleep Apnea Usually there are 3 types
of Sleep Apnea- 1.Obstructive sleep apnea It
is the most common type of sleep apnea. It occurs
when the soft tissue in the back of your throat
relaxes during sleep and blocks the airway, often
causing you to snore loudly. 2. Central sleep
apnea Its a much less common type of sleep
apnea that involves the central nervous system,
occurring when the brain fails to signal the
muscles that control breathing. People with
central sleep apnea seldom snore.

5
3.Complex sleep apnea Its a combination of
obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea.
  • What is COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary
    disease)?

Ans chronic obstructive pulmonary
(PULL-mun-ary) disease or COPD is a progressive
disease that makes it hard to breathe.
"Progressive" means the disease gets worse over
time. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
(COPD), also known as chronic obstructive lung
disease (COLD), chronic obstructive airway
disease (COAD), chronic airflow limitation (CAL),
and chronic obstructive respiratory disease
(CORD), is a lung disease defined by persistently
poor airflow
6
  • What is Emphysema?

Ans Emphysema is a type of chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease (COPD) involving damage to the
air sacs (alveoli) in the lungs. As a result,
your body does not get the oxygen it needs.
Emphysema makes it hard to catch your breath. You
may also have a chronic cough and have trouble
breathing.
7
What happens when you have these
problems....? Hmm.. Let me guess.... You cant
get a peaceful sleep all night ..
